German luxury carmaker Audi is set to expand its performance-SUV portfolio in India with the launch of the brand-new Audi SQ8 — a sportier, performance-oriented variant of the popular Q8 SUV. This will be Audi India’s first significant new product launch for 2026, and it promises to deliver a compelling blend of performance, luxury, and high-end technology tailored for premium buyers.

Audi has officially confirmed that the SQ8 will make its debut in India on 17 March 2026, with pricing and full details expected to be announced on the same day. In some reports, there’s mention of 17 April being the date for unveiling and pricing disclosure — likely reflecting internal planning or media embargo changes.
The SQ8 will be positioned between the standard Audi Q8 and the range-topping RS Q8 in Audi’s SUV lineup — offering a sportier and more performance-focused alternative to the regular model, but without reaching the extreme performance levels (and price) of the RS variant.

Under the hood, the SQ8 in India will be powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine, the same unit used in the RS Q8 but tuned for a slightly softer power output to suit its niche.
This performance level keeps the SQ8 very much in “sports-SUV” territory — fast and dynamic — while offering slightly more refined tuning and everyday usability compared with the more aggressive RS Q8.

Visually, the SQ8 differentiates itself from the standard Q8 through a series of sporty and premium cues:
These elements give the SQ8 a more athletic and purposeful stance, while still maintaining the elegant coupe-like SUV silhouette that the Q8 range is known for.

Inside, the Audi SQ8 is expected to offer a fully-loaded luxury experience befitting its premium positioning:
The cabin layout blends a high-end digital experience with physical comfort — a signature Audi strength in this segment.

While the final ex-showroom pricing will be confirmed at launch, early estimates place the SQ8’s price in the Rs. 1.5 – 2.0 crore bracket in India. Positioned firmly above the regular Q8 and below the ultra-premium RS Q8, this pricing aims to balance exclusivity with attainable performance for affluent buyers.
The Audi SQ8 presents an exciting new choice for enthusiasts who want V8 performance, advanced luxury, and everyday usability without opting for the all-out RS Q8. It strengthens Audi’s presence in the premium performance SUV segment in India and gives buyers a compelling alternative to rivals such as the BMW X5 M60i, Mercedes-AMG GLE 53, and Porsche Cayenne S.
