Stellantis is preparing a major expansion of its Indian passenger vehicle business, with Jeep and Citroen set to introduce 12 products under the company's FaSTLAne 2030 roadmap. The plan includes seven all-new models and five major upgrades, supported by an additional investment of approximately ₹4,000 crore.

The upcoming product programme will cover several vehicle segments, from entry-level cars and compact SUVs to larger premium SUV cars, an MPV and a pickup truck. Stellantis also plans to offer multiple powertrain technologies, including petrol and other internal combustion engine (ICE) options, hybrids, plug-in hybrids and fully electric vehicles.

According to reports, the first product under the new roadmap is expected to arrive in India by the second quarter of 2027. The investment will take Stellantis' cumulative commitment to the Indian market to approximately ₹15,000 crore by 2030.

Jeep and Citroen India Plans: Key Highlights

  • 12 product introductions planned across Jeep and Citroen.

  • Seven all-new models and five major upgrades.

  • Approximately ₹4,000 crore in additional investment.

  • First launch expected by Q2 2027.

  • New products to cover multiple SUV segments, an MPV, a small car and a premium pickup.

  • ICE, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric powertrains under consideration.

  • Around 90% localisation targeted across the two brands.

  • Greater focus on exports, dealership reach and customer experience.

₹4,000 Crore Investment to Support New Products

The additional investment of around ₹4,000 crore will support product development, localisation, manufacturing and improvements to the customer experience. Stellantis has already committed more than ₹11,000 crore to its Indian operations, taking the planned cumulative investment to roughly ₹15,000 crore by 2030.

The company aims to make its products more competitive by using India's manufacturing infrastructure, engineering expertise and supplier network. Increasing localisation could also help reduce production costs and improve the viability of new models in price-sensitive segments.

Stellantis India CEO and Managing Director Shailesh Hazela has indicated that the company wants to improve ownership costs, service quality and product features as part of its renewed strategy. The company is also aiming to strengthen its sales performance through the expanded product range.

Jeep is expected to account for five of the 12 planned product introductions. The programme is intended to expand the brand's presence beyond its existing premium SUV portfolio, which includes the Compass, Meridian, Wrangler and Grand Cherokee.

According to reports, Jeep's upcoming product range will cover B-, C- and D-segment vehicles, along with a premium pickup truck. This could allow the brand to compete in more market categories and attract customers looking for different sizes and price points.

A new midsize SUV could be a major highlight

One anticipated development is a Jeep midsize SUV based on Tata Motors' ARGOS architecture, the platform associated with the Tata Sierra. The potential collaboration could help Jeep use local engineering and manufacturing capabilities to develop a product suited to Indian buyers.

The SUV could potentially offer conventional and electric powertrain options, although its final specifications, name, launch price and confirmed powertrain lineup have not been announced.

A new electric Jeep for India is also being explored, but the company has not confirmed its launch date or disclosed whether it will be a separate model or part of the upcoming SUV programme.

The premium pickup planned for the Indian market could further expand Jeep's appeal, although its design, engine specifications and positioning remain undisclosed.

Citroen will account for seven of the planned product introductions, making it a significant part of Stellantis' India strategy. Its current Indian lineup includes the C3, eC3, Aircross, Basalt and C5 Aircross.

The reported roadmap includes three all-new models and four major upgrades for Citroen. Potential additions include an A-segment entry-level car, a C-segment SUV and a D-segment MPV. However, Stellantis has not confirmed the final names or individual launch schedules of these vehicles.

An affordable new car could help Citroen reach a wider audience, while an additional SUV could strengthen its position in one of India's most competitive vehicle categories. An MPV could provide another opportunity to serve families seeking additional passenger space and practicality.

Alongside new models, the company plans to upgrade existing products. These changes could involve equipment, styling, safety technology, powertrain options or other improvements, but the specific upgrades have not yet been detailed.

Citroen is also expected to continue developing its electrified and CNG offerings as part of the broader multi-powertrain strategy.

One of the most important elements of the FaSTLAne 2030 roadmap is its focus on different powertrain technologies. Rather than concentrating on a single propulsion system, Stellantis intends to offer options suited to varying customer needs, affordability levels and infrastructure conditions.

Powertrain

Potential role in the upcoming lineup

Petrol and ICE

Conventional cars and SUVs for everyday use

Hybrid

Improved fuel efficiency through a combination of engine and electric assistance

Plug-in hybrid

Electric driving capability combined with a combustion engine

Battery electric (EV)

Zero tailpipe-emission mobility

CNG

An additional fuel option, particularly relevant to selected Citroen products

The company has not confirmed which individual Jeep or Citroen models will receive each powertrain. Availability will depend on factors such as development costs, customer demand, regulations and charging infrastructure.

Stellantis is also considering partnerships and external powertrain sourcing as possible ways to expand its technology choices without developing every system independently.

Localisation Target of Around 90%

Increasing local manufacturing and component sourcing will be another key priority. Stellantis aims to achieve localisation levels of approximately 90% across Jeep and Citroen products, subject to technical and commercial feasibility.

The company operates manufacturing facilities in Ranjangaon, Maharashtra, and in Tamil Nadu, supported by engineering and software operations in India.

Greater localisation could help the company control costs, adapt products to local requirements and improve competitiveness against established Indian and international manufacturers. It may also support the development of vehicles for overseas markets.

Stellantis already exports vehicles and automotive components from India. Under the new roadmap, India-developed products are expected to play a larger role in the group's international operations.

Dealership Expansion and Customer Experience

The product launches will be accompanied by efforts to strengthen sales and after-sales support. Stellantis plans to improve customer access through its combined Jeep and Citroen retail format, known as the Stellantis Brand House.

The company is looking at opportunities to expand into Tier-2, Tier-3 and selected Tier-4 markets where demand supports a larger presence. Improvements to service availability, spare-parts access and ownership costs will also be important.

These changes matter because a broader product range alone may not be sufficient to build long-term customer confidence. Reliable after-sales support and competitive maintenance costs will be essential if the brands are to increase their reach in India.

Expected Launch Timeline and What Remains Unconfirmed

The first product under the new programme is expected to arrive by the second quarter of 2027. The full 12-product plan is intended to roll out over approximately three years, although a model-by-model launch calendar has not been disclosed.

The names, prices, engine specifications, battery capacities, feature lists and variant details of the upcoming vehicles remain unconfirmed. Buyers should therefore treat specific model predictions as possibilities rather than official announcements.

The scale of the planned investment and the number of upcoming products suggest a broader effort to improve Jeep and Citroen's position in India. The programme's success will ultimately depend on how competitively the vehicles are priced, how well they meet local customer expectations and how consistently they are introduced.
