Bajaj Auto is preparing to expand its motorcycle portfolio with two new brands targeting the 125cc to 250cc category. The upcoming motorcycles will cater to buyers in India and international markets, complementing the existing Pulsar lineup as the company looks to strengthen its position in the competitive two-wheeler market.
Bajaj Auto is working on an ambitious product expansion strategy for the financial year 2026-27. The company plans to introduce two new motorcycle brands covering the 125cc to 250cc engine capacity segment.
The announcement was shared by Bajaj Auto Joint Managing Director Rakesh Sharma following the company's Q2 FY2027 financial results. According to him, the two upcoming brands will collectively address different customer requirements across the 125cc-250cc category.
Importantly, both brands will not necessarily cover the entire engine capacity range individually. Instead, they will focus on different subsegments and complement each other.
The new motorcycles are expected to be introduced in both domestic and international markets. However, Bajaj Auto has not revealed their brand names, individual models, specifications, expected prices or exact launch dates yet.
Bajaj Auto currently has a strong presence in the Indian motorcycle market through its popular Pulsar family. The company offers motorcycles across multiple engine capacities, attracting customers looking for commuter-friendly performance bikes as well as sporty options.
However, the introduction of two additional brands indicates that Bajaj wants to reach customers beyond its existing Pulsar portfolio.
The upcoming brands are expected to have different positioning and product characteristics to attract buyers with varying requirements. This strategy could help the company target customers looking for stylish commuter motorcycles, premium everyday bikes and performance-oriented options.
Bajaj had initially discussed introducing two new brands focused on the 125cc category during its Q1 FY2027 earnings call in July 2026. The latest announcement provides a broader picture, confirming that the combined product strategy will cover the 125cc to 250cc segment.
One of the major reasons behind this product expansion is Bajaj Auto's effort to strengthen its market position in the 125cc and 150cc-plus motorcycle categories.
The company acknowledged that it had lost market share in these segments during the previous year. Some existing motorcycles were also approaching the end of their product life cycles, making updates and new launches increasingly important.
Bajaj has already started refreshing its motorcycle portfolio, particularly the Pulsar range. The company believes that introducing updated products and entirely new brands will help attract new customers and encourage existing riders to upgrade.
The 150cc-plus segment is particularly important because premium motorcycles can help establish a stronger brand identity and influence customer interest in smaller-capacity motorcycles.
Bajaj is also focusing its investments on motorcycles above 125cc rather than competing aggressively in the entry-level 100cc category.
Alongside the development of two new brands, Bajaj Auto has been refreshing its existing Pulsar lineup.
The company has introduced updated versions of the Pulsar 125 and Pulsar 150, along with updates across its N and NS series.
Other motorcycles receiving updates include the Pulsar N160, N250, NS200 and NS400Z.
According to Rakesh Sharma, recently introduced motorcycles contributed around 7% of Bajaj's 125cc-plus portfolio in August 2026. This share increased to 26% in September and reached 33% during the first 16 days of the festive period.
These figures indicate improving contributions from the company's newer products.
Bajaj is also planning additional updates and upgrades for its Pulsar and Dominar motorcycles in the 160cc to 400cc category over the coming months.
The two upcoming motorcycle brands will not be limited to India. Bajaj Auto also plans to introduce these products in international markets as part of its wider export growth strategy.
The company has reported strong overseas shipment growth. Its exports increased by approximately 41% year-on-year to around 7.8 lakh vehicles during Q2 FY2027.
Motorcycle demand remained particularly strong in Africa and Latin America. Exports to Africa increased by 83%, while shipments to Latin America, including Brazil, grew by 44%.
Bajaj plans to strengthen its international presence by expanding into new product categories, entering additional countries and increasing its market share in existing markets. Its collaboration with KTM will also remain an important part of its international business strategy.
The two new brands could give Bajaj Auto an opportunity to compete more strongly in one of India's important motorcycle categories.
The 125cc-250cc segment includes buyers looking for a balance of performance, fuel efficiency, comfort and affordability. By introducing separate brands for different customer groups, Bajaj could create more focused product offerings.
For now, buyers will have to wait for official announcements regarding the upcoming motorcycles. Details such as engine platforms, design, features, pricing and launch schedules remain undisclosed.
Bajaj Auto's upcoming two motorcycle brands could mark an important step in the company's product expansion strategy. With a combined focus on the 125cc to 250cc segment, the new offerings are expected to complement the Pulsar range and target customers in India as well as overseas markets.
Along with its ongoing Pulsar and Dominar updates, Bajaj Auto is looking to build a stronger motorcycle portfolio in FY2027. More information about the upcoming brands is expected as the company moves closer to their planned introduction.
