Hero MotoCorp is preparing to expand its premium motorcycle lineup with new Karizma and Xpulse models. The upcoming launches include the production-ready Karizma XMR 250 and a smaller-capacity Xpulse motorcycle, as the company plans three to four key premium bike launches during the remaining months of FY2027.
Hero MotoCorp is gearing up for an important expansion of its premium motorcycle portfolio in India. The company is working on several new products under its popular Xtreme, Xpulse and Karizma brands, with more launches expected before the end of FY2027.
According to recent developments, the new Hero Karizma XMR 250 and a smaller-capacity Xpulse motorcycle have already been spotted in production-ready form. This suggests that both motorcycles could be approaching their respective market introductions.
During the company's Q2 FY2027 earnings call, Hero MotoCorp CEO Harshavardhan Chitale indicated that the manufacturer is planning three to four important product launches during the remaining part of the financial year.
The company's premium motorcycle strategy will focus on four major brand families: Xtreme, Xpulse, Karizma and motorcycles developed in collaboration with Harley-Davidson.
One of the most anticipated motorcycles in Hero's upcoming lineup is the Karizma XMR 250. The motorcycle was showcased earlier and has subsequently been spotted in production-ready form.
The new Karizma XMR 250 is expected to use the 250cc liquid-cooled engine already seen in the Hero Xtreme 250R.
This engine produces approximately 30 PS of maximum power and 25 Nm of peak torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox in the Xtreme 250R. The same powertrain could give the Karizma a competitive position in the fully-faired sports motorcycle category.
In terms of design, the motorcycle features an aggressive front profile, sporty fairing, aerodynamic styling, a sculpted fuel tank and a split-seat setup.
The expected hardware package includes upside-down front forks, a rear monoshock suspension, disc brakes and dual-channel ABS. However, final specifications and feature availability will be confirmed by Hero at launch.
Once introduced, the Karizma XMR 250 could compete with motorcycles such as the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 and other premium fully-faired bikes.
Alongside the Karizma XMR 250, Hero MotoCorp is also preparing a new, smaller-capacity Xpulse motorcycle.
The upcoming model has reportedly been spotted in an undisguised, production-ready form at the company's facility. It is expected to offer a more accessible entry point into the adventure motorcycle category.
The new motorcycle could appeal to riders who want an adventure-inspired design, practical everyday usability and the ability to handle rough roads.
Hero's existing Xpulse range has already established a presence in India's adventure motorcycle market. The company says the Xpulse brand recorded more than 30% retail growth during the first half of FY2027 and accounted for over 35% of its adventure motorcycle segment.
A more affordable Xpulse could help Hero attract additional customers, particularly riders who want an adventure motorcycle without moving into a higher engine-capacity category.
Hero has not yet announced the new Xpulse model's engine capacity, specifications, price or launch date.
Hero MotoCorp has traditionally been particularly strong in the commuter motorcycle category, especially with products such as the Splendor.
However, the company wants to improve its presence in the premium motorcycle segment, where competition from manufacturers such as Bajaj Auto, TVS Motor and Royal Enfield remains strong.
According to reports based on SIAM data, demand for motorcycles in the 150cc-350cc category grew considerably faster than the entry-level commuter categories during the first half of FY2027.
Hero is therefore looking to fill gaps in its premium portfolio through new products, updated models and stronger brand positioning.
The company is also expanding its dedicated Hero Premia dealership network. The network had reached approximately 150 stores, with further expansion planned to improve the sales and ownership experience for premium motorcycle customers.
Apart from the Karizma and Xpulse motorcycles, Hero MotoCorp is also preparing additional products under its Harley-Davidson partnership.
The Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 has recently been spotted without camouflage, indicating that another motorcycle could join the company's upcoming launch pipeline.
Hero is also planning further product introductions and updates across its existing premium motorcycle portfolio.
These launches will help the company compete in a wider range of engine capacities and price categories while attracting customers looking for more powerful and feature-rich motorcycles.
