Ducati bikes has introduced a series of updates to its Desmo450 MX motocross motorcycle for the 2027 model year, focusing on improved performance, durability, ergonomics and maintenance. The updated range includes the standard Desmo450 MX and the more competition-focused Desmo450 MX Factory, with both models receiving refinements based on experience from the brand’s first full motocross racing season.
The announcement also brings lower prices in selected international markets. In the UK, the standard model is priced at £9,495, while the Desmo450 MX Factory costs £10,795. These reductions apply to the UK market; Ducati has not yet confirmed revised Indian prices or a launch date for the 2027 models
The 2027 update concentrates on improving the motorcycle’s existing motocross package rather than introducing an entirely new model. Ducati has revised the final-drive gearing, redesigned selected rider controls, upgraded several components and introduced new tyres and graphics.
The changes are intended to help riders maintain better control on demanding motocross tracks while improving the motorcycle’s reliability during intensive use.
One of the main mechanical changes is the larger rear sprocket, which now has 51 teeth instead of 49. The revised final-drive ratio increases the torque available at the rear wheel, helping the motorcycle respond more quickly when accelerating out of corners.
The five-speed gearbox remains unchanged. The gearing adjustment is aimed at improving track performance without requiring a complete transmission redesign.
The 2027 Desmo450 MX receives Pirelli Scorpion MX32 tyres designed for traction and performance on modern motocross circuits. Tyre choice is particularly important in off-road competition, where riders frequently encounter loose soil, ruts, jumps and changing surface conditions.
Ducati has also redesigned the gearshift and rear brake pedal tips. These changes are intended to improve foot movement and make shifting gears and applying the rear brake more comfortable during demanding riding sessions.
Another practical change is the larger 40mm fuel-filler opening, which makes refuelling easier between practice sessions and races.
Ducati has updated several components to improve robustness and long-term reliability. These include revisions to the starter motor gear coupling, a redesigned water-pump oil seal, a reinforced exhaust manifold connection and updates to parts exposed to impacts or repeated stress.
The chain-guide support, fork slider guards and front engine-mounting brackets have also received attention.
These improvements are particularly relevant to motocross motorcycles because they are routinely exposed to vibration, dirt, repeated landings and high mechanical loads. Actual component life will still depend on riding conditions and maintenance.
The 2027 Desmo450 MX introduces a predictive maintenance system available through an optional Wi-Fi module. The system analyses motorcycle usage data and can adjust engine maintenance intervals according to actual operating conditions.
This approach can help riders plan servicing around how the motorcycle is used rather than relying exclusively on fixed intervals. The Wi-Fi module is an accessory, so buyers should confirm availability and cost with their local Ducati dealer.
The Desmo450 MX Factory is designed for riders seeking a more competition-focused package. It receives all the standard model's 2027 updates, along with additional hardware intended to reduce weight and improve performance under racing conditions.
Its key equipment includes:
Akrapovič titanium exhaust: A complete system with dedicated engine mapping, claimed to reduce weight by 1.7kg compared with the standard exhaust system.
Upgraded Showa suspension: Components featuring Dark Kashima and titanium oxide surface treatments to improve operating characteristics and wear resistance.
Machined triple clamps: Designed to reduce weight.
Additional protection: A sump guard and front disc cover.
Competition chain: An RK MXU chain with O-rings.
Holeshot device: Designed to help manage acceleration and stability at race starts.
The Factory model also features distinctive Ducati Corse graphics for 2027. Together, these additions make it the more specialised option for riders who prioritise competition equipment.

The standard Desmo450 MX has become 1,750 cheaper, while the Factory version has received a larger 2,400 reduction. These are UK prices, and exchange-rate conversions do not represent official Indian prices. Taxes, import costs and market-specific pricing can make the final cost different in India.
The 2026 Ducati Desmo450 MX is listed in India at approximately ₹17.23 lakh ex-showroom. However, Ducati has not confirmed the Indian launch date or revised pricing for the 2027 version.
The international price reduction therefore does not mean that Indian buyers will automatically receive a similar cut. Interested customers should wait for an official announcement from Ducati India before making purchase decisions.
The Desmo450 MX is a specialist motocross motorcycle, so buyers should also check its intended use, local registration requirements and access to suitable off-road riding facilities.
