Mahindra car is preparing to expand its SUV portfolio with new powertrain options, feature upgrades and next-generation models. Several test vehicles have recently been spotted together, highlighting the company's plans across the compact SUV, off-road SUV, family SUV and electric SUV segments.

The latest sightings include the upcoming Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG, a Thar Roxx prototype reportedly testing new suspension technology, the Scorpio N facelift, the Vision S-based SUV and the upcoming electric SUV inspired by the Vision T concept. While some updates are expected to arrive soon, others remain in the testing phase, with their final specifications and launch schedules yet to be confirmed.

1. Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG: Launch Expected on October 15

The Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG is among the closest upcoming additions to the company's passenger vehicle range. The new version is expected to bring a factory-fitted CNG powertrain to the compact SUV, giving buyers another option alongside the existing petrol and diesel variants.

Mahindra has teased the upcoming model ahead of its expected October 15, 2026, launch. The CNG version could use the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol MPFI engine, although its final power, torque, fuel-efficiency figures and variant details are yet to be officially confirmed.

The XUV 3XO CNG is expected to target customers looking for an SUV-style body, modern features and potentially lower running costs. It could compete with CNG-equipped alternatives such as the Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Tata Nexon iCNG.

Pricing, boot-space details and the final equipment list should become clearer when Mahindra announces the production model.

2. Mahindra Thar EV: Vision T-Based Electric SUV Spied

Mahindra is also working on an electric SUV inspired by its Vision T concept, which was showcased in 2025. The project is expected to bring the rugged design philosophy associated with the Thar family into an all-electric format.

The upcoming SUV is expected to feature a five-door body style, providing more cabin access and practicality than the traditional three-door Thar. Its design is expected to draw heavily from the Vision T concept, although the production version may receive changes to meet manufacturing and road-use requirements.

Testing appears to be at an early stage, meaning the final design, battery capacity, driving range, charging performance and power output remain unconfirmed.

The Thar EV could eventually appeal to buyers who want an electric vehicle with a distinctive SUV stance and an outdoors-focused image. However, Mahindra has not confirmed its final name, launch date or production specifications.

3. Mahindra Scorpio N Facelift: More Design and Cabin Changes Expected

The Mahindra Scorpio N is also expected to receive a more substantial update. The SUV received feature enhancements in 2026, including a larger infotainment screen and other cabin improvements, but the next facelift could bring additional changes to its styling and equipment.

Recent test sightings suggest Mahindra is evaluating a refreshed version with design inspiration from its newer lifestyle-oriented vehicles. The cabin is expected to receive further attention, potentially including an updated dashboard layout and a portrait-style infotainment display.

The extent of the exterior changes remains uncertain. Mahindra could retain the Scorpio N's familiar proportions while introducing revised styling details and additional equipment.

The engine and transmission options may continue from the existing model, but the company has not confirmed the final powertrain specifications for the facelift.

The Scorpio N facelift is expected to remain aimed at buyers seeking a rugged, three-row SUV with road presence, family-friendly space and touring capability.

4. Mahindra Thar Roxx: New Suspension Technology Under Testing

Mahindra appears to be evaluating updated suspension technology for the five-door Thar Roxx. The test vehicle is reportedly associated with DaVinci dampers, a technology that Mahindra has introduced on another model in its range.

Dampers play an important role in controlling body movement, absorbing road imperfections and maintaining tyre contact with the surface. Changes to the suspension setup could help improve ride comfort and vehicle control, depending on the final calibration.

For the Thar Roxx, which combines a lifestyle-oriented cabin with off-road capability, suspension tuning is particularly important. The SUV must balance everyday driving comfort with the ability to handle rough roads and uneven terrain.

The test sightings do not confirm the final specification, however. Mahindra has yet to announce whether the new dampers will be offered across the range or restricted to selected variants.

This development appears to be an update to the existing Thar Roxx rather than a completely new-generation model.

5. Mahindra Vision S: Upcoming Compact SUV Takes Shape

The Vision S-based SUV is another important upcoming Mahindra product. The concept forms part of the company's next-generation SUV design direction and is expected to lead to a production model positioned in the sub-four-metre segment.

Spy sightings suggest a boxy silhouette, short overhangs and an upright stance. The production SUV is also expected to feature contemporary lighting, a modern dashboard and a technology-focused cabin.

The Vision S project could be significant because it may combine compact exterior dimensions with the stronger road presence associated with the Scorpio name. The production model is expected to be positioned above or alongside the XUV 3XO, depending on Mahindra's final product strategy.

Petrol and diesel powertrains are among the expected possibilities, while electric and flex-fuel versions have also been discussed as part of the broader platform's potential. These options should not be treated as confirmed specifications for the launch model.

The production version is expected in 2027, although the exact launch date, name, pricing and variant lineup remain unannounced.

What These Upcoming Mahindra SUVs Mean for Buyers

The latest test sightings show that Mahindra is developing products for several different customer needs rather than concentrating on a single SUV category.

The XUV 3XO CNG could appeal to customers prioritising running costs. The Scorpio N facelift is expected to focus on feature and design improvements, while the Thar Roxx could receive suspension-related refinements. The Vision S-based SUV is intended to expand Mahindra's compact SUV range, and the Vision T-based electric SUV could extend the Thar family's appeal into the EV segment.

The timing varies considerably. The XUV 3XO CNG is expected to arrive first, while the Vision S-based SUV is anticipated in 2027. The Thar EV appears to be at an earlier stage of development, so buyers may have to wait longer for official details.
