Brussels, Belgium — Kia Corporation has officially introduced the EV2, the company’s most compact and affordable electric SUV to date, at the 2026 Brussels Motor Show. The new B-segment electric vehicle marks a significant push by Kia to broaden its EV lineup with a model tailored for urban buyers and value-conscious drivers.
Designed primarily for the European market, the EV2 is underpinned by Kia’s Electric Global Modular Platform (e-GMP) — the same architecture as the brand’s larger EVs, but optimized in a smaller footprint for city manoeuvrability. Production is slated to begin in February 2026 at Kia’s facility in Slovakia, with the company projecting annual sales of around 100,000 units by 2027.
The EV2 will be available with two battery configurations:
Both versions use a 400-volt electrical system and support DC fast charging, capable of taking the battery from 10 % to 80 % in about 30 minutes. The EV2 also supports AC charging at 11 kW and 22 kW for convenient home and public charging.
Visually, the EV2 reflects Kia’s latest design language with a bold, modern look highlighted by vertically stacked LED daytime running lights and a squared-off bonnet that evokes the brand’s larger EVs. Inside, the cabin is packed with tech for the segment, featuring a triple-screen setup with two 12.3-inch displays (instrument cluster and infotainment) and a 5.3-inch climate control touchscreen.
Kia also offers a premium Harman Kardon audio system and two versions of its ccNC software — standard and Lite — both of which support over-the-air updates and optional feature subscriptions. The interior layout maximizes space efficiency with sliding and reclining rear seats and up to 403 litres of boot capacity, along with a small 15-litre “frunk” up front.
Safety has not been compromised despite the EV2’s compact size. The SUV comes equipped with a suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) including:
Additional tech includes Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) capabilities, digital key access via NFC and smartphone apps, an EV route planner and plug-and-charge support.
While exact pricing and launch timelines are yet to be confirmed, early reports suggest the Kia EV2 could be priced below €30,000 (around ₹26-27 lakh equivalent) in key European markets — making it one of Kia’s most affordable EV offerings. The company has not yet revealed plans for an Indian launch.
