Toyota car is preparing a comprehensive facelift for the Innova Hycross, with the updated MPV expected to receive noticeable changes to its exterior and interior. Recent test mule sightings have already indicated that the model is being developed with a refreshed design, while a newly surfaced design patent has provided a clearer indication of what the front end could look like.
The facelift is expected to retain the current engine and hybrid powertrain options, meaning Toyota is likely to focus primarily on styling, technology and equipment upgrades rather than making major mechanical changes.
The most significant update appears to be at the front. The design patent indicates that the facelifted Innova Hycross could adopt styling cues inspired by Toyota’s latest-generation Hilux.
The updated MPV is expected to feature a more upright front fascia, giving it a stronger and more SUV-inspired road presence. A black upper trim is visible in the patent design, while the grille appears to feature a diamond-pattern honeycomb treatment.
The fog lamp housings are expected to receive a polygonal design, while the lower grille could feature horizontal slats. The headlamp area also appears to have a curved, swept-back profile, which is broadly consistent with the lighting arrangement seen on the test vehicles.
While the entire front fascia is expected to look substantially different, the bonnet design could remain largely unchanged.

Compared with the front, the side profile of the 2027 Innova Hycross facelift is expected to receive fewer styling updates.
The MPV is likely to retain its squared wheel arches, chrome-finished conventional door handles and body-coloured ORVMs with integrated turn indicators. The existing character lines on the doors are also expected to continue.
Test vehicles have been spotted using alloy wheels that appear similar to the design currently offered on the Innova Hycross, although Toyota could introduce new wheel designs or finishes with the production version.
At the rear, Toyota is expected to retain the basic shape of the existing tail lamps while introducing changes to their internal LED lighting signatures.
The rear bumper could also receive subtle styling revisions to complement the redesigned front fascia. Toyota may additionally introduce new exterior colour options as part of the facelift.
Overall, the exterior changes are expected to give the Innova Hycross a more modern and SUV-inspired appearance without significantly altering its familiar MPV proportions.
The interior is also expected to receive a significant technology upgrade. Test mules have reportedly been seen with a larger infotainment display compared with the current model.
The existing Innova Hycross uses a 10.1-inch touchscreen on higher variants. The facelift could potentially upgrade this to a 12-inch or larger display, giving the cabin a more contemporary appearance.
Toyota is also expected to make improvements to the connected-car technology, digital instrument cluster and 360-degree camera system. The facelift could bring revised upholstery, along with improvements to the overall cabin finish and material quality.
Other convenience and safety features could also be updated as Toyota looks to keep the Innova Hycross competitive in the premium MPV segment.
Despite the extensive design and technology changes, the powertrain lineup is expected to remain unchanged.
The petrol version currently uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder TNGA petrol engine producing around 173 hp and 204 Nm. The engine is paired with a CVT automatic transmission.
The hybrid version combines the 2.0-litre petrol engine with an electric motor and an Ni-MH battery pack. The combined system output stands at approximately 183.7 hp, while the petrol engine develops 188 Nm and the electric motor produces 206 Nm.
The hybrid variants also offer an EV driving mode along with Eco, Normal and Power drive modes. An e-CVT transmission is used for the hybrid versions.
Toyota is therefore expected to concentrate on improving the ownership experience through styling, technology and equipment rather than introducing a new engine with this facelift.
The facelift arrives at an important time for Toyota’s premium MPV. The Innova Hycross has established a strong position in India, particularly among buyers looking for a spacious vehicle with a fuel-efficient hybrid powertrain.
However, competition in the premium SUV and hybrid vehicle space is gradually increasing. New products with hybrid and plug-in hybrid technology are expected to give customers more choices, putting additional pressure on established models.
The updated Innova Hycross could therefore play an important role in Toyota’s strategy to maintain its position in the segment.
