BMW Motorrad has officially unveiled the new BMW F 450 RR on October 15, 2026. The new fully faired sports bike expands BMW's 420cc motorcycle family, joining the F 450 GS adventure bike and F 450 R roadster. With aggressive styling inspired by the flagship BMW S 1000 RR, a claimed top speed of 177 km/h and a ready-to-ride weight of 177 kg, the F 450 RR is aimed at riders seeking a lightweight, performance-focused motorcycle.

The new motorcycle features a 420cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine producing 48 hp and 43 Nm of torque. BMW has also introduced supersport-specific chassis tuning, multiple riding modes, a 6.5-inch TFT display and an optional Easy Ride Clutch system on the range-topping variant.

For Indian buyers, the F 450 RR is particularly interesting because the BMW 450 motorcycle family is manufactured by TVS Motor Company at its Hosur facility in Tamil Nadu. However, BMW has not yet confirmed the F 450 RR's India launch date or pricing.

BMW F 450 RR Design: Inspired by the S 1000 RR

The BMW F 450 RR adopts an aggressive supersport design that takes inspiration from the larger BMW S 1000 RR. Its nose-down stance, raised tail section, aerodynamic winglets and sculpted fairings give it a race-inspired appearance.

The motorcycle features asymmetric side fairings, distinctive side vents and an LED headlight with BMW's signature RR-style daytime running light design. These elements help distinguish it from the naked F 450 R and adventure-oriented F 450 GS.

BMW has also equipped the F 450 RR with clip-on handlebars and a sculpted fuel tank designed to support a sporty riding posture. The standard seat height is 790 mm, while optional seat configurations can lower it to 775 mm or increase it to 810 mm.

At 177 kg ready to ride, the motorcycle aims to balance sporty performance with manageable weight. The version equipped with the optional Easy Ride Clutch weighs 178 kg.

420cc Engine Produces 48 HP and 43 Nm

Powering the F 450 RR is a 420cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine developed for BMW's F 450 platform. For the RR version, the engine is tuned to suit the requirements of a fully faired sports motorcycle.

The engine produces 48 hp at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm of peak torque at 6,750 rpm. BMW uses a 135-degree crankpin offset and a balance shaft to provide a distinctive engine character while helping reduce vibration.

BMW states that approximately 80% of peak torque is available from 3,000 rpm, which should help deliver useful acceleration without requiring the rider to keep the engine at very high revs.

The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox. BMW claims a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 5.6 seconds and a top speed of 177 km/h.

BMW F 450 RR Mileage and Fuel Tank

BMW quotes fuel consumption of 3.8 litres per 100 km under the WMTC test cycle. This translates to approximately 26.3 km/l under standardised testing conditions.

The motorcycle comes with a 14-litre fuel tank. Based on the claimed consumption figure, the theoretical range works out to approximately 368 km on a full tank. Actual range will depend on riding style, traffic, road conditions and speed.

BMW also specifies service intervals of 10,000 km, although owners should follow the maintenance schedule applicable to their market.

Suspension, Brakes and Chassis

The BMW F 450 RR uses a tubular steel frame, with the engine serving as a load-bearing component. BMW has developed the chassis geometry and suspension setup specifically for supersport riding.

The suspension package consists of a 43 mm KYB upside-down front fork and a rear KYB monoshock with adjustable preload and rebound damping. Sport and M Sport versions receive upgraded suspension adjustability, including front rebound and compression adjustments.

Braking hardware includes a 310 mm front disc paired with a four-piston Brembo caliper and a 240 mm rear disc with a ByBre caliper.

The motorcycle rides on 17-inch alloy wheels, with a 110/70 front tyre and a 150/60 rear tyre. This combination is intended to support the bike's handling characteristics on winding roads and during more spirited riding.

Features and Safety Equipment

The F 450 RR comes with a range of electronic rider aids and convenience features. BMW has included three standard riding modes: Rain, Road and Race. These allow riders to adjust the motorcycle's behaviour to suit different riding conditions.

Key features include:

  • ABS Pro with cornering functionality

  • Dynamic Traction Control (DTC)

  • Dynamic Brake Control (DBC)

  • Engine drag torque control (MSR)

  • 6.5-inch TFT instrument display

  • Smartphone connectivity and navigation functions

  • All-LED lighting

  • Heated grips

  • USB-C charging port

  • Shift Assistant Pro on selected variants

  • Riding Modes Pro with configurable Race Pro mode on applicable variants

M Sport versions also offer additional display layouts with information such as lean angle, braking force and traction-control intervention, alongside a lap timer. A reversible gearshift pattern is available for riders who prefer a track-style shifting arrangement.

Easy Ride Clutch: A Highlight of the Top Variant

One of the more distinctive features of the new BMW F 450 RR is its optional Easy Ride Clutch (ERC), offered with the M Sport Innovation Package.

The system automatically engages and disengages the clutch according to engine speed. When combined with Shift Assistant Pro, it can make starting, stopping and changing gears easier without requiring routine operation of the clutch lever.

The rider still selects the gears manually, and the clutch lever remains available for direct control. BMW also says the system can be retrofitted to other variants as an original accessory.

BMW F 450 RR India Launch and Expected Price

BMW F450GS-based Roadster and Sportbike Imminent - BikeWale

The BMW F 450 RR could attract considerable interest in India because BMW's 450cc motorcycle platform is manufactured locally by TVS Motor Company at its Hosur plant. Local manufacturing may be relevant to future pricing and availability, but it does not guarantee an Indian launch.

As of October 2026, BMW Motorrad has not announced an official India launch date or ex-showroom price for the F 450 RR. The motorcycle is scheduled to become available in South Africa in the second quarter of 2027, according to BMW's announcement. An Indian launch timeline remains unconfirmed.

Potential rivals in the Indian market would include other premium middleweight motorcycles, although the final competitive positioning will depend on its price, equipment and launch specification.

Conclusion

The new BMW F 450 RR expands BMW Motorrad's 420cc platform with a fully faired, performance-focused motorcycle. Its 48 hp engine, 177 km/h claimed top speed, 177 kg ready-to-ride weight and approximately 26.3 km/l claimed fuel efficiency make it an interesting addition to the middleweight sports-bike category.

Features such as adjustable suspension on selected variants, cornering ABS, a TFT display and the optional Easy Ride Clutch further distinguish the motorcycle. For Indian enthusiasts, the key details still awaited are the official launch date, variant lineup and pricing.
