Mercedes-Benz India has launched the new Mercedes-AMG G 63 Offroad PRO in the country at an introductory price of ₹3.80 crore (ex-showroom). Positioned as a more rugged and off-road-focused version of the high-performance G 63, the new variant will be sold in limited numbers in India.

The G 63 Offroad PRO combines the iconic G-Class design with AMG performance and additional equipment aimed at improving its capability on challenging terrain. It receives upgraded suspension hardware, dedicated off-road driving modes and expedition-style exterior equipment.

The new G 63 Offroad PRO is priced at ₹3.80 crore, ex-showroom. It commands a premium over the standard AMG G 63 and is being offered as a limited-run model for the Indian market.

The limited availability is intended to add exclusivity to this special version of the performance-oriented G-Class.

More Capable Off-Road Hardware

The biggest changes are underneath the familiar G-Class body. The Offroad PRO comes equipped with AMG Active Ride Control suspension, featuring active roll stabilisation and adaptive damping.

It also gets dedicated AMG Active Balance Control and AMG Traction PRO systems. These functions allow the driver to adjust suspension behaviour and traction characteristics according to the terrain.

The AMG Traction PRO system can manage wheel-specific braking torque and traction settings to help the SUV maintain grip on loose or uneven surfaces.

4.0-Litre Twin-Turbo V8 Engine

Powering the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Offroad PRO is the familiar 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine. The engine produces 585 hp and 850 Nm of peak torque and is supported by a 48V mild-hybrid system.

The SUV sends power to all four wheels through AMG's performance-oriented all-wheel-drive system. Mercedes-AMG claims a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of 4.4 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 240 kmph. The mild-hybrid system can provide an additional 15 kW boost under suitable conditions.

Rugged Exterior Design

The Offroad PRO gets several visual changes that differentiate it from the regular G 63. These include AMG-specific bumpers, stainless-steel exterior elements, AMG badging and 20-inch AMG five-twin-spoke matte-black alloy wheels.

Another major addition is the Professional roof luggage rack, giving the SUV a more expedition-oriented appearance and additional equipment-carrying capability.

Off-Road Focused Interior and Technology

Inside, the G 63 Offroad PRO features an updated off-road interface designed to make important terrain-related information easier to access.

The system can display information such as vehicle position, compass direction, altitude, steering angle, tyre pressure and differential-lock status. It also gets Mercedes' Transparent Hood function, which uses camera feeds to provide a virtual view of the area immediately ahead and beneath the front section of the SUV.

The SUV also features Mercedes' latest infotainment technology, including dual 12.3-inch displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, augmented-reality navigation and multiple USB-C connections.
