The new Skoda Slavia has arrived in India with a revised design, more technology and a wider spread of features across its six-variant lineup. Prices start at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and extend to Rs 18.84 lakh for the range-topping Monte Carlo 1.5 TSI DSG.
Rather than making a major change to the engine lineup, Skoda cars has focused on making the Slavia more convenient and feature-rich. The biggest mechanical update is the introduction of an 8-speed torque-converter automatic with the 1.0-litre TSI engine.
The updated Slavia is offered in Classic, Classic+, Signature, Sportline, Prestige and Monte Carlo trims.

The Classic is the simplest way into the new Slavia range. Priced at Rs 9.99 lakh, it is offered with the 1.0-litre TSI engine and a six-speed manual gearbox.
The engine produces 115 PS and 178 Nm, making it suitable for buyers who want a turbo-petrol sedan primarily for everyday driving.
The important point here is that the Classic is manual-only. Buyers who want an automatic have to move up to the Classic+.
The Classic+ could be one of the more interesting variants in the range because it introduces the new automatic gearbox.
The 1.0 TSI is available with either the six-speed manual or the new 8-speed torque-converter automatic.
Prices begin at Rs 10.99 lakh for the manual and Rs 12.49 lakh for the automatic.
For buyers who spend considerable time in city traffic, the Classic+ automatic could make more sense than paying for the larger 1.5-litre engine.
The Signature takes the Slavia into a more premium equipment zone.
It retains the 1.0 TSI engine and can be purchased with either the manual or new eight-speed automatic transmission.
The variant is positioned for buyers who want more equipment than the entry-level versions while still keeping the 1.0-litre engine.
Prices start at Rs 13.94 lakh for the manual and Rs 14.94 lakh for the automatic.
The Sportline takes a different approach. Instead of introducing a new engine, Škoda gives the Slavia a more distinctive and sporty appearance.
It is available with the 1.0 TSI in both manual and automatic forms.
The manual costs Rs 14.34 lakh, while the automatic is priced at Rs 15.34 lakh.
This variant should appeal to buyers who want the Slavia's practical sedan package but prefer a sportier visual treatment.
The Prestige is where the more powerful engine becomes available.
Alongside the 1.0 TSI options, buyers can choose the 1.5-litre TSI, which develops 150 PS and 250 Nm and comes paired with a seven-speed DSG.
The Prestige 1.5 TSI DSG is priced at Rs 18.59 lakh.
This is the variant to consider if performance is more important than simply getting the lowest possible purchase price.
At the top of the range sits the Monte Carlo.
Unlike the Classic, this variant does not offer a manual gearbox. Buyers can choose between the 1.0 TSI with the eight-speed automatic and the 1.5 TSI with the seven-speed DSG.
Prices start at Rs 17.29 lakh and go up to Rs 18.84 lakh.
The Monte Carlo also gets its own sporty design treatment, making it visually different from the standard variants.
The updated Slavia continues with two turbocharged petrol engines.

The new 8-speed automatic is arguably the most important change for the 1.0 TSI. It gives buyers an alternative to the manual without requiring them to upgrade to the 1.5 TSI.
The 1.5 TSI remains the more powerful choice and is exclusively paired with the seven-speed DSG.
The new Slavia's changes extend beyond its exterior design.
The cabin now gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument display, while the infotainment system measures 10.1 inches. Higher variants also benefit from a 360-degree camera system, which should make parking easier in tight spaces.
One of the more unusual additions is the rear-seat massage function. This gives the Slavia an additional comfort feature aimed at passengers who regularly use the rear seats.
The updated infotainment system also gets AI-based functionality, while wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay add convenience for smartphone users.
The Slavia continues with a six-airbag safety package and its 5-star Global NCAP safety rating.
The updated model also gets additional parking assistance technology, including front sensors and the 360-degree camera on applicable variants.
Škoda is also offering the new Slavia with a four-year warranty, four years of roadside assistance and four labour-free services.
