New Skoda Superb Diesel Set for India: Launch Timeline, Specs, Features and Expected Price

Skoda car is bringing the fourth-generation Superb back to India, and this time the premium sedan will make a major comeback with a diesel engine. The new Superb was unveiled for the Indian market alongside the Slavia facelift and is expected to arrive by June 2027.

The India-spec model will be imported as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) and will be offered in a single, fully loaded Laurin & Klement variant. Unlike the 4x4 diesel version showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo, the model planned for India will feature front-wheel drive (FWD).

Expected Price and Launch

Skoda has not officially announced the price yet, but the new Superb is expected to sit in the ₹60 lakh range (ex-showroom). The pricing could become more competitive once the proposed India-EU Free Trade Agreement takes effect in 2027.

The new Superb will compete primarily with the Toyota Camry, which is currently priced around ₹48.69 lakh–₹48.89 lakh (ex-showroom). Unlike the Superb, the Camry is locally assembled in India through the CKD route.

Skoda is expected to launch the Superb Diesel in India by June 2027.

New Superb Design

The fourth-generation Superb gets a more sophisticated and premium exterior while retaining the model's distinctive design language. The India-spec car was showcased in an Ice Tea colour, giving it a subtle executive appearance.

Other colour options available globally include Pebble Silver, Carmine Red, Cobalt Blue, Ebony Black, Graphite Grey, Energy Blue and Purity White.

Premium and Spacious Interior

The cabin has been designed around comfort and long-distance luxury, particularly for rear passengers. Skoda will offer the India-spec Superb with Cognac leather upholstery, premium materials and a spacious rear cabin.

The front section of the cabin shares several design elements with the Kodiaq. A large 12.9-inch infotainment display sits at the centre of the dashboard, accompanied by a digital driver's display.

Diesel Engine and Performance

The biggest highlight of the new India-spec Superb is the return of the 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine to Skoda's Indian lineup.

The engine produces:

This will mark Skoda's return to diesel passenger cars in India after the company discontinued its diesel-powered models following the BS6 transition.

The India-spec Superb will not get the AWD/4x4 setup that was showcased with the diesel-powered model at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo.

The Superb's diesel comeback could also influence Skoda's future product strategy in India. The company could consider introducing a diesel-powered Kodiaq if there is sufficient demand from Indian customers.

For now, however, the Superb will be the brand's key diesel offering when it returns to the Indian market.

What Could Have Been Better?

Despite its long equipment list, there are a few features that could have made the Superb even more appealing to chauffeur-driven buyers. The rear seats do not appear to get features such as powered reclining, ventilation or massage functions.

A dedicated rear entertainment system could also have further enhanced the car's executive appeal.
