VinFast is moving closer to entering India's electric two-wheeler market after signing agreements with more than 50 dealer partners across 15 states and territories. The Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer plans to establish over 50 dedicated electric motorcycle showrooms in 34 cities, marking a major step in its efforts to expand beyond electric cars in India.
The company announced the development on October 8, 2026, following the signing of Letters of Intent (LOIs) with its first group of Indian dealer partners. The agreements were signed at VinFast's manufacturing complex in Hai Phong, Vietnam, during a visit by the prospective Indian dealers.
The planned network is expected to help the company build its retail presence and bring its upcoming electric two-wheelers closer to customers across major Indian markets.
VinFast Plans Showrooms Across 34 Indian Cities
Under the newly signed agreements, VinFast and its dealer partners will work together to establish more than 50 electric two-wheeler showrooms across 34 cities in 15 states and territories.
The planned network will cover several important regions, including Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Odisha.
These markets have substantial two-wheeler demand and could provide opportunities for the company to introduce electric scooters and motorcycles to a wider customer base.
The agreements represent planned dealership development rather than confirmation that all the showrooms are already operational. VinFast has not yet announced a complete list of dealership locations or a confirmed opening schedule.
VinFast entered India's electric mobility market in 2025 with activities involving the distribution, manufacturing and assembly of electric cars. The company has since been expanding its presence in the country's passenger EV segment.
The latest dealer agreements mark a new phase in its Indian expansion, as the company prepares to develop a separate distribution network for electric two-wheelers.
India is a particularly important market for this strategy because scooters and motorcycles are widely used for daily commuting, business travel and personal transportation.
By developing a dedicated retail network, VinFast aims to establish a stronger connection with customers and create a foundation for the introduction of its electric two-wheeler products.
Building a dealership network is only one part of entering India's competitive electric two-wheeler market. Customers also need convenient servicing, spare-parts availability and reliable support throughout the ownership period.
VinFast has said that it is working on charging infrastructure and strengthening after-sales services alongside its dealership expansion.
Anurag Saxena, CEO of VinFast India E-Scooters, described the partnerships as the beginning of the company's effort to bring its electric two-wheelers to customers across India.
The success of this strategy will depend on how effectively VinFast establishes its service network, supports dealers and addresses the practical requirements of electric two-wheeler owners.
India is the world's largest two-wheeler market, making it an important opportunity for manufacturers looking to expand their electric vehicle businesses.
According to figures cited by VinFast, approximately 21.41 million two-wheelers were registered in India during the 2025–26 financial year, with electric vehicles accounting for 6.54% of the total.
The relatively low share of electric vehicles among all two-wheeler registrations suggests that there is room for further electrification. However, manufacturers must also address purchase prices, charging access, range expectations, reliability and after-sales support.
VinFast's planned dealership network could help the company introduce its products to more consumers, provided that its upcoming models offer competitive pricing and practical everyday performance.
VinFast has not yet announced the complete Indian product lineup, launch prices or final specifications associated with the new dealer network.
Earlier reports have pointed to possible models such as the Viper and Rasad, following the filing of design patents in India. However, design registrations do not automatically confirm that a vehicle will be launched in the country.
The company is expected to provide further details about its Indian electric two-wheeler strategy as preparations progress.
Potential buyers should therefore wait for official confirmation of model names, battery capacities, claimed range, charging times, warranty coverage and pricing before making comparisons with existing electric scooters.

VinFast will enter a market that already includes established manufacturers and electric mobility startups.
Companies such as TVS Motor, Bajaj Auto, Hero MotoCorp and Ather Energy have developed products and customer networks in India's electric two-wheeler segment. Ola Electric and other manufacturers also compete for buyers seeking alternatives to petrol-powered scooters.
To gain market share, VinFast will need to offer a convincing combination of range, charging convenience, competitive pricing, dependable performance and accessible servicing.
Its dealership expansion is an important preparatory step, but the actual reception of its products will depend on the models launched and the ownership experience they deliver.
VinFast's immediate priority will be to convert its dealer agreements into operational showrooms while preparing its product lineup and customer-support infrastructure.
The company has not confirmed a final launch date for its electric two-wheelers in India. It has also not disclosed official prices or complete specifications for the models intended for the market.
Further announcements about the lineup, dealership openings and launch schedule should provide a clearer picture of the company's plans.
