The Triumph bikes has started Triumph Trident 800 reaching select dealerships in India, with prices beginning at Rs 10.95 lakh (ex-showroom). The new middleweight roadster sits above the Trident 660 in Triumph's motorcycle lineup and combines a 798cc, three-cylinder engine with modern rider-assistance technology.

The motorcycle is reportedly available in limited numbers ahead of an official India launch announcement. Triumph Motorcycles India has not yet listed the Trident 800 on its Indian website, so buyers should confirm availability and delivery timelines with their nearest authorised dealership.

798cc Triple-Cylinder Engine Produces 115hp

The Triumph Trident 800 is powered by a 798cc, liquid-cooled, inline-three-cylinder petrol engine shared with the Tiger Sport 800. It produces 115hp at 10,750rpm and peak torque of 84Nm at 8,500rpm.

The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox. Triumph's Shift Assist system supports clutchless upshifts and downshifts, helping make gear changes smoother during acceleration and spirited riding.

The three-cylinder configuration is intended to offer a balance of low- and mid-range response with strong performance at higher engine speeds. The Trident 800 is designed for riders who want a performance-focused naked motorcycle that can also be used for everyday road riding.

Chassis and Suspension

The Trident 800 uses a steel perimeter frame, with a 41mm Showa SFF-BP upside-down fork at the front and a Showa monoshock at the rear. The suspension offers adjustment for riders who want to tailor the setup to their preferences and riding conditions.

Braking is handled by twin front discs with four-piston radial calipers and a rear disc. The motorcycle also features cornering ABS and cornering traction control, supported by a six-axis inertial measurement unit.

These systems are designed to help manage braking and traction when the motorcycle is leaned over. They assist the rider but do not eliminate the risks associated with slippery surfaces, excessive speed or abrupt inputs.

Electronics and Rider Assistance Features

The Triumph Trident 800 receives a comprehensive electronics package for the middleweight naked motorcycle segment.

Key features include:

  • Three riding modes: Road, Sport and Rain

  • Six-axis IMU

  • Lean-sensitive cornering ABS

  • Cornering traction control

  • Triumph Shift Assist

  • Cruise control

  • Bluetooth connectivity through the My Triumph system

  • A 3.5-inch colour TFT instrument display

  • Full LED lighting

The riding modes adjust the motorcycle's response to suit different conditions. The Rain mode is intended for situations where a more cautious power delivery is useful, while Sport mode offers a sharper riding character.

Bluetooth connectivity enables supported functions such as navigation, calls and music through compatible devices. Equipment availability and supported functions should be confirmed for the Indian-market motorcycle.

Design and Dimensions

The Trident 800 follows a muscular naked-roadster design, featuring a sculpted fuel tank, a compact tail section, an upright handlebar and a distinctive round headlamp with LED lighting.

The motorcycle has a split seat with a seat height of 810mm. Its wet weight is approximately 198kg, including fluids and a full fuel tank, while the fuel tank capacity is 14 litres.

These dimensions place the Trident 800 in the middleweight roadster category. Prospective buyers should consider the seat height, weight and handlebar position during a dealership visit to check whether the motorcycle suits their riding needs.

Triumph Trident 800 vs Street Triple R

The Trident 800 enters a competitive part of the premium motorcycle market, where it sits close to the Triumph Street Triple R in price and performance.

The Trident 800 starts at Rs 10.95 lakh, while the Street Triple R is priced around Rs 10,000 lower in India. Both motorcycles offer strong performance, but they use different chassis designs and equipment packages.

The Trident 800 features a steel perimeter frame and a 3.5-inch TFT display. The Street Triple R uses an aluminium twin-spar frame and a larger 5-inch TFT display, along with fully adjustable suspension.

The choice between the two will depend on the rider's priorities, including engine character, handling, suspension adjustability, riding position and preferred styling.

India Availability and Booking Details

Although select dealerships have reportedly received stock, availability is not uniform across all outlets. Triumph has yet to make a formal India launch announcement or publish the Trident 800 on its official Indian website.

Interested buyers should contact an authorised Triumph dealership to confirm the colour, manufacturing details, warranty, delivery timeline and final on-road price. They should also verify whether the specific unit is available for immediate delivery or requires a booking.
