Bajaj Auto's August 2026 sales performance highlighted a significant shift in demand across its two-wheeler portfolio. While the Bajaj Pulsar continued to lead the company's listed motorcycle ranges, the Chetak electric scooter emerged as the biggest growth driver. Platina, CT and Freedom recorded year-on-year declines, whereas Avenger and Dominar posted gains in their reported sales categories.

According to the model-wise sales data, Pulsar recorded 97,839 units in August 2026, while Chetak sales climbed to 52,248 units. Platina followed with 26,997 units, making these three product ranges the biggest contributors to the reported model-wise volumes.

The contrasting performance of petrol motorcycles and electric scooters reflects changing demand across different price points and vehicle categories. Here is a detailed look at Bajaj's model-wise sales performance in August 2026, including year-on-year comparisons and the key takeaways for each range.

Bajaj Pulsar Sales Decline 9.33% in August 2026

The Bajaj Pulsar remained the largest individual range in the reported model-wise breakup, with sales of 97,839 units in August 2026. However, volumes declined from 1,07,909 units in August 2025, representing a year-on-year drop of 9.33%.

The performance varied considerably across engine-capacity categories. The 111cc–125cc segment recorded 48,935 units, down from 58,941 units a year earlier. The 126cc–150cc category declined to 15,840 units from 20,187 units.

Larger Pulsar categories delivered a more encouraging performance. Sales in the 151cc–200cc segment rose to 24,173 units, while the 201cc–250cc category increased to 7,179 units. The 251cc–350cc category also contributed 1,712 units.

The figures indicate that smaller-capacity Pulsars accounted for much of the decline, while selected larger-capacity models maintained positive momentum.

Bajaj Chetak Sales Jump 273%

The Bajaj Chetak electric scooter was the standout performer in August 2026. Sales rose to 52,248 units from 14,014 units in August 2025, representing growth of approximately 273%.

The increase of more than 38,000 units made Chetak the second-largest product range in the reported breakup. Its performance helped offset the declines recorded by several conventional motorcycle ranges.

The strong growth also highlights the increasing importance of electric scooters in Bajaj's product portfolio. However, a single month's sales figures do not establish whether the same growth rate will continue in subsequent months.

Future performance will depend on factors such as product availability, pricing, consumer demand, charging convenience and competition in the electric two-wheeler segment.

Bajaj Platina Sales Fall 31%

Bajaj Platina recorded 26,997 units in August 2026, compared with 39,110 units during the same month last year. This translated into a year-on-year decline of 30.97%.

The Platina continues to target commuters looking for an economical motorcycle for daily travel. Its sales decline was one of the largest absolute reductions among the listed Bajaj ranges.

The performance suggests that the commuter motorcycle category remains an important area to monitor. Changes in demand, model availability and competition can influence monthly volumes, although the sales figures alone do not establish the cause of the decline.

Bajaj CT Sales Drop 47.47%

The Bajaj CT range recorded 3,102 units in August 2026, down from 5,905 units in August 2025. This represented a decline of 47.47%.

The reduction placed CT among the weaker performers in the reported model-wise breakup. As a commuter-focused range, its performance is closely relevant to buyers seeking affordable everyday mobility.

The next few monthly sales reports will help establish whether the decline is temporary or part of a longer-running trend.

Bajaj Avenger Sales Grow 31%

The Bajaj Avenger recorded 2,127 units in August 2026, compared with 1,628 units a year earlier. Sales therefore increased by 30.65%.

The reported mix was led by the 201cc–250cc category, which contributed 2,127 units. The corresponding category had recorded only 395 units in August 2025, while the 151cc–200cc category reported no sales in August 2026 against 1,233 units a year earlier.

This means the overall increase reflects a shift in the reported sales mix rather than uniform growth across all Avenger categories.

The Avenger continues to serve buyers interested in cruiser-style motorcycles, but its relatively small volumes mean monthly changes can appear substantial in percentage terms.

Bajaj Dominar Sales Increase 203%

The Bajaj Dominar recorded 1,894 units in August 2026, up from 625 units in August 2025. This represents an increase of 203.04%.

The 251cc–350cc category contributed 1,353 units, while the 201cc–250cc category recorded 541 units. The latter declined from 625 units a year earlier.

Consequently, the overall growth was driven by the addition of volume in the larger-capacity category, rather than an increase across both categories.

Although the percentage increase appears impressive, Dominar's total volume remains much smaller than that of Pulsar, Chetak and Platina.

Bajaj Freedom CNG Sales Decline 41%

The Bajaj Freedom CNG motorcycle recorded 1,095 units in August 2026, compared with 1,858 units in the same month last year. Sales declined by 41.07%.

The Freedom is notable for its factory-fitted CNG technology, which offers an alternative to conventional petrol-powered commuter motorcycles. Its sales performance will be worth monitoring as consumers evaluate fuel costs, refuelling infrastructure and everyday practicality.

The August figures show a year-on-year decline, but they do not establish the reasons behind the change or indicate how the motorcycle will perform over the full financial year.
