Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), the British luxury carmaker owned by Tata Motors, is gearing up for a significant shift in its India lineup in 2026. After years of relying solely on internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles in the Indian market, JLR is set to introduce its first electric models here, marking a major step in its global electrification strategy.

One of the most anticipated launches from JLR in India will be the all-electric Range Rover. Scheduled to arrive by the first half of 2026, this model represents JLR’s first fully electric Range Rover for India.

Powered by a 118 kWh battery pack and dual electric motors, the Range Rover Electric is expected to produce around 550 hp and 850 Nm of torque, delivering robust performance fitting for a flagship SUV. The vehicle will use an 800 V electrical architecture, which supports fast charging capabilities up to 350 kW, and JLR is targeting a WLTP-rated range of around 530 km on a single charge.

Styling largely mirrors its ICE counterpart, with subtle grille modifications and refined aerodynamic tuning to suit its electric powertrain. Both standard and long-wheelbase versions are anticipated, catering to buyers who prioritise rear-seat space and comfort. JLR is also planning special editions of the Range Rover SV and the smaller Range Rover Sport SV, such as Black Edition and Carbon Edition variants, to add exclusivity to the lineup. The price is expected to be around Rs.3 crore (estimated).

2. Jaguar Electric 4-Door GT – The Electrified Grand Tourer

Jaguar Electric GT Car Spotted Testing For First Time; Debut In 2026

Alongside the electric Range Rover, JLR is fast-tracking the introduction of a Jaguar Electric 4-door GT in India. Expected to debut globally in late 2026, this electric grand tourer will follow suit with an India launch soon after, likely in the second half of 2026.

Built on a dedicated EV platform known as Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA), the new Jaguar GT is designed to offer refined performance and luxury. Early reports suggest it could deliver over 700 km of range and approximately 580 hp, positioning it as a serious competitor in the high-end EV segment.

The design language draws inspiration from Jaguar’s Type 00 concept, featuring an elegant silhouette with a long bonnet, sloping roofline, and compact rear deck—hallmarks of a true grand tourer. With its distinct styling and electric performance focus, the GT is expected to attract luxury buyers looking for a blend of performance and sophistication.

What This Means for JLR in India

The planned electric launches in 2026 signal a broader transformation for Jaguar Land Rover in India. Moving beyond traditional ICE vehicles, the company is embracing electrification in an effort to remain relevant and competitive in the growing electric luxury segment.

Beyond new launches, JLR is also expanding its operational footprint in India. From early 2026, the company plans to shift assembly of several models to a new facility in Ranipet, Tamil Nadu, as part of Tata Motors’ larger manufacturing strategy. This localisation effort is expected to improve pricing competitiveness and strengthen JLR’s presence in the luxury car market.
