German automaker Volkswagen India has kicked off its promotional campaign for the upcoming Volkswagen Tayron SUV, revealing the first official teaser ahead of the model’s anticipated launch in the Indian market.
What is the 20/4-10 rule to buy a car?
The initial teaser image released by Volkswagen shows the Tayron SUV covered under a white veil, offering only limited glimpses of its exterior. Despite the partial cover, the distinct silhouette and LED lighting signature — including a full-width LED strip integrated with the headlamps, and illuminated VW logo — clearly identify the vehicle as the Tayron.

While Volkswagen has so far only released this one teaser, the brand is expected to roll out more visuals and teasers via social media ahead of the car’s official unveiling and launch in India.
The Tayron is essentially a larger, three-row SUV positioned above the Tiguan, offering more space and a more commanding road presence than its 5-seater sibling. Globally, the Tayron is built on the same platform as the Tiguan but boasts extended dimensions to accommodate the third row and offers a larger boot capacity.
In India, the SUV is expected to be assembled locally via the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route at Volkswagen’s Aurangabad facility, which could help the company keep prices competitive with rivals in the segment.

The Tayron for India is anticipated to be powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, producing around 204 hp and 320 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. All-wheel-drive configurations may also be offered, enhancing capability and driving dynamics.
Volkswagen is expected to launch the Tayron in India in 2026, though the exact date has not yet been confirmed. The SUV is likely to sit above the Tiguan R-Line in pricing and will compete with other premium three-row SUVs in the country.
Once launched, the Tayron is expected to rival other premium three-row SUVs such as the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian and the MG Gloster. These models are popular choices in the segment, offering strong competition with robust performance and feature-rich cabins.
