Mahindra XUV 7XO Achieves 5-Star Bharat NCAP Safety Rating

The Mahindra XUV 7XO has secured a 5-star safety rating in the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP), strengthening its position as one of the safety-focused three-row SUVs in the Indian market. The latest crash-test results cover both adult and child occupant protection, with the SUV recording strong scores across the key assessment areas.

The Bharat NCAP assessment was conducted on the seven-seat Mahindra XUV 7XO AX7 diesel automatic variants, including front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. The resulting 5-star rating applies across the XUV 7XO range.

Strong Adult Occupant Protection

In the Adult Occupant Protection assessment, the XUV 7XO scored 30.76 points out of a possible 32. The SUV scored 14.76/16 in the frontal offset deformable barrier test and a full 16/16 in the side movable deformable barrier test.

The crash assessment found good protection for several critical body regions. Some areas, including the driver's chest and tibia protection in specific test positions, were rated adequate. The SUV also received an “OK” verdict in the side pole impact assessment.

Child Occupant Protection Score

The XUV 7XO also performed strongly in child occupant protection, scoring 44.97 out of 49 points.

The dynamic child protection score stood at 23.97/24, while the child restraint system installation assessment received a full 12/12 score. The tested child dummies represented 18-month-old and 3-year-old occupants, with strong protection recorded during the crash assessments.

Safety Features on the XUV 7XO

Mahindra has equipped the XUV 7XO with a comprehensive safety package. Six airbags are offered as standard, while higher variants get seven airbags with curtain protection extending towards the third row.

Other safety equipment includes Electronic Stability Control, traction control, hill-hold assist, hill-descent control and ISOFIX child-seat mounting points. Higher variants also offer a 360-degree camera system, tyre pressure monitoring system and Level 2 ADAS functionality.

Mahindra states that the XUV 7XO comes with more than 120 safety features, with 75 safety features available as standard from the base variant. Its Level 2 ADAS package includes 17 functions, while the SUV also gets a 540-degree surround-view camera system on higher variants.

XUV 7XO Builds on XUV700's Safety Legacy

The XUV 7XO is the successor to the Mahindra XUV700 and carries forward the earlier model's strong safety credentials. The XUV700 had previously achieved a 5-star adult occupant protection rating and a 4-star child occupant protection rating in Global NCAP testing.

With its latest 5-star Bharat NCAP rating for both adult and child occupant protection, the XUV 7XO further strengthens Mahindra's presence among India's highly rated family SUVs.
