Hero MotoCorp appears ready to give the Xtreme 125R a significant technology boost as competition in India’s sporty 125cc motorcycle category continues to intensify. The upcoming update is expected to introduce a TFT instrument cluster and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), potentially making the motorcycle one of the most feature-loaded models in its class.
The 125cc sporty motorcycle segment has been rapidly moving toward more premium technology. The TVS Raider 125 was among the first motorcycles in this category to adopt a TFT display, while the Honda CB125 Hornet followed with similar equipment. Bajaj is also preparing a next-generation Pulsar 125 with a TFT console.
Hero now appears ready to join the trend with an updated Xtreme 125R.
Images of the revised motorcycle have surfaced, showing a new TFT instrument cluster in place of the existing 4.2-inch colour LCD unit. The premium display could initially be restricted to a higher-spec variant, allowing Hero to position it above the existing versions.
The bigger talking point, however, could be the addition of TPMS.
If introduced as expected, the Xtreme 125R could become the first motorcycle in its segment to combine a TFT display with tyre-pressure monitoring. The feature would provide riders with real-time tyre-pressure information and add another layer of convenience and safety.
Hero already offers several premium features on the Xtreme 125R, including:
Adding a TFT screen and TPMS would further strengthen its feature list.
The new TFT unit could also bring an updated user interface and additional information compared with the current LCD display. Hero may introduce revised switchgear to make controlling the expanded feature set easier.
At present, Hero offers a TFT console on the Xtreme 160R, and extending the technology to the smaller Xtreme 125R would bring the brand’s premium display technology to a wider audience.
Despite the expected technology additions, one major feature remains absent from the Xtreme 125R: upside-down front forks.
Honda CB125 Hornet currently stands out in the segment with USD forks. If Hero eventually introduces this setup on the Xtreme 125R, it could further enhance the motorcycle’s premium positioning.
For now, the updated model is expected to retain the existing telescopic front suspension and rear monoshock arrangement.
The upcoming update is likely to focus primarily on equipment rather than mechanical changes.
The Xtreme 125R's existing 124.7cc single-cylinder engine produces approximately 11.4 bhp at 8,250 rpm and 10.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm, with power sent through a 5-speed gearbox.

The current Hero Xtreme 125R range is priced between ₹91,500 and ₹1,08,300 (ex-showroom).
With the addition of the TFT display and TPMS, Hero could introduce a new top-end variant carrying a premium over the existing range. The exact pricing and variant strategy are expected to be confirmed closer to the official launch.
The upcoming update suggests Hero MotoCorp is keen to prevent the Xtreme 125R from falling behind its increasingly tech-focused rivals.
With TFT instrumentation, TPMS, cruise control, ride-by-wire, dual-channel ABS and ride modes, the Xtreme 125R could offer one of the most comprehensive feature packages in the 125cc sporty motorcycle segment.
If Hero eventually brings similar technology to models such as the Xtreme 250R, Xpulse 210 and Xoom 160, the brand could further strengthen its position across its premium motorcycle portfolio.
