Tesla Expands India Charging Footprint With New Thane Facility:-
Tesla car is continuing to strengthen its presence in India by adding a new Destination Charging facility in Thane, Maharashtra. The latest installation takes Tesla’s charging network in the country to seven locations and comes alongside the launch of a new Refer and Earn programme and a Model Y-focused Experience event.
The new charging point has been installed at Lake Shore Thane, with four AC Destination Chargers positioned in the complex’s UB parking area. Each charger delivers 11kW of charging capacity, giving Tesla owners an additional charging option while visiting the shopping and dining destination.
Tesla says the facility is designed to provide reliable access for customers and claims an uptime of 99.95%.

Tesla is also using the new Thane location to increase customer engagement. The company is conducting its first Experience event in Thane from August 12 to August 19 at the Lake Shore Thane Courtyard.
Visitors can get a closer look at the Model Y and Model Y L, including guided vehicle walkarounds. Customers interested in getting behind the wheel can also schedule test drives through Tesla’s official website.
Along with the charging expansion, Tesla has launched its Refer and Earn programme for Indian customers.
Under the programme, existing Tesla owners can refer friends or family members who go on to purchase a Tesla. Once the referred buyer takes delivery, the existing owner can receive ₹11,000 worth of benefits, which can be used toward Supercharging or a new Tesla.
Tesla is also offering an additional incentive to new buyers. The first 10 customers who place an order using a referral link will receive ₹22,000 off the vehicle’s purchase price.
Tesla currently sells the Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive in India at ₹50.89 lakh (ex-showroom). The electric SUV offers a claimed WLTP range of up to 500km, while its 0-100kmph acceleration time stands at 5.9 seconds. It also provides up to 2,138 litres of cargo capacity.
The larger Model Y L brings a three-row, six-seat configuration and an all-wheel-drive setup. Prices start at ₹61.99 lakh (ex-showroom). According to Tesla's claimed figures, the Model Y L can deliver up to 681km of WLTP range, accelerate from 0-100kmph in 5.0 seconds, and offer as much as 2,539 litres of cargo space.
Tesla has also recently expanded the technology package of the updated Model Y with Grok AI, adding another software-focused feature to its electric SUV lineup.
With the new Thane charging facility, customer Experience event and referral programme, Tesla is simultaneously expanding its charging infrastructure and customer engagement strategy as it builds its presence in the Indian EV market.
