Maruti Suzuki has introduced the updated 2026 Baleno in India, bringing a refreshed design, a new Z-Series petrol engine, improved fuel efficiency and a significantly expanded safety and comfort package. The new Baleno starts at around ₹6.10 lakh (ex-showroom) and continues to target buyers looking for a premium, fuel-efficient hatchback.
One of the biggest changes is the replacement of the earlier petrol engine with Maruti Suzuki's 1.2-litre Z12E three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol unit. The engine produces around 82.9 PS and 112.4 Nm, while being paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox or AGS automatic transmission.
Fuel efficiency is one of the major highlights of the facelifted Baleno. The petrol-manual version delivers an ARAI-claimed 23.80 kmpl, while the AGS automatic variant returns 24.77 kmpl.
The Baleno S-CNG is also offered with the new Z12E engine and claims 33.61 km/kg. According to Maruti, the petrol manual and automatic versions are respectively around 6.4% and 7.9% more efficient than the outgoing model.

The 2026 Baleno receives a refreshed front-end rather than a complete design overhaul. The facelift brings changes to the grille and bumper, along with updated detailing intended to give the hatchback a sharper appearance.
The overall proportions remain familiar, allowing the Baleno to retain its practical premium-hatchback character.
Maruti Suzuki has also added several comfort and technology upgrades. The updated Baleno gets a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The cabin also benefits from connected-car technology through Suzuki Connect, which offers more than 40 connected functions covering vehicle security, alerts, trip information and remote operations.
Safety is one of the biggest upgrades for the 2026 Baleno. The facelift introduces Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, bringing a range of active safety technologies to the premium hatchback.
Depending on variant and equipment configuration, the ADAS package includes features such as:
The new safety technology gives the Baleno a more advanced driver-assistance package than the outgoing model.
The Baleno continues with its familiar hatchback proportions. It measures approximately 3,990 mm in length, 1,745 mm in width and 1,530 mm in height, with a 2,520 mm wheelbase.
It retains a 5-seat layout, making it suitable for urban families and buyers who prioritize cabin space and everyday usability.
The updated Baleno has been launched at an introductory starting price of approximately ₹6.10 lakh ex-showroom. Higher variants with automatic transmission, additional equipment and advanced safety features command a higher price.

The updated Maruti Baleno continues to compete in India's premium hatchback segment against models such as the Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz and Toyota Glanza. Its combination of high claimed mileage, a new engine, connected features and Level 2 ADAS makes the 2026 update considerably more feature-rich than before.
The 2026 Maruti Baleno facelift focuses on efficiency, technology and safety rather than a complete mechanical transformation. The new Z12E engine, 24.77 kmpl claimed automatic mileage, Level 2 ADAS, ventilated seats and upgraded infotainment system are the biggest additions.
For buyers looking for a premium hatchback with strong fuel economy and a broad technology package, the new Baleno becomes a more compelling option in the segment.
