Bajaj Auto has launched the new Pulsar N250SS in India at an ex-showroom price of ₹1,59,406 in Delhi. The updated quarter-litre motorcycle receives several mechanical and technology upgrades, including a four-valve engine, a six-speed gearbox, a Sports Shifter quickshifter and a new 5-inch TFT instrument console.

The new Pulsar N250SS builds on the existing Pulsar N250, bringing additional power and modern features to Bajaj's popular streetfighter motorcycle range. It also introduces an Electronic Throttle Body (ETB), which enables selectable riding modes.

The updated model is positioned above the standard Pulsar N250 and targets riders looking for improved performance, additional convenience features and a more advanced riding experience. The launch also comes during the Pulsar brand's 25th anniversary year.

Bajaj Pulsar N250SS Price and Positioning

The new Bajaj Pulsar N250SS costs ₹1,59,406 ex-showroom in Delhi. The standard Pulsar N250 is positioned below the new SS version, with the updated model commanding a premium for its additional equipment and revised powertrain.

The price difference reflects the addition of a six-speed transmission, quickshifter, TFT display, electronic throttle technology and other convenience features.

The final on-road price will vary depending on the city, insurance costs, registration charges and applicable taxes. Buyers should check with their local Bajaj dealership for the exact amount.

Engine and Performance: More Power from a Four-Valve Setup

The Bajaj Pulsar N250SS continues to use a 249cc single-cylinder engine, but the updated version receives a four-valve configuration.

The engine produces 25 PS of maximum power and 22 Nm of peak torque. These figures represent a modest improvement over the standard N250, which produces 24.5 PS and 21.5 Nm.

The revised engine setup is intended to offer improved performance while retaining the motorcycle's familiar quarter-litre character.

Another important change is the replacement of the five-speed gearbox with a new six-speed transmission. The additional gear provides more flexibility across different riding conditions and could make highway cruising more comfortable, depending on speed and engine load.

The motorcycle also gets a Sports Shifter, commonly referred to as a quickshifter, which allows clutchless gear changes under supported operating conditions. This feature can make gear shifts more convenient during spirited riding.

Actual performance, acceleration and highway efficiency will need to be assessed through real-world riding tests.

New 5-Inch TFT Display with Google Maps

One of the most noticeable changes to the Pulsar N250SS is its updated instrument console. The earlier LCD unit has been replaced by a 5-inch colour TFT display.

The new screen supports Google Maps mirroring, allowing riders to view navigation information through the instrument cluster rather than relying entirely on their smartphone screen.

The upgraded cockpit gives the motorcycle a more modern appearance and improves access to riding information. It also brings the N250SS in line with the growing use of colour TFT displays and connected features in the premium commuter and performance motorcycle segments.

Other additions include a USB Type-C charging port, adjustable levers and a dedicated hazard switch. These features improve everyday convenience, particularly for riders who use their motorcycles for longer commutes and highway journeys.

Electronic Throttle Body and Riding Modes

The new Pulsar N250SS also receives an Electronic Throttle Body (ETB). This system electronically manages throttle input and supports selectable riding modes.

Different riding modes can adjust the motorcycle's response according to the selected setting and operating conditions. The exact behaviour depends on the system calibration.

The updated electronics are intended to provide riders with greater flexibility across changing road conditions. However, riders must continue to adjust their speed and riding style to suit traffic, weather and road surfaces.

The motorcycle also retains its existing ABS-related riding assistance, while the updated package adds technology beyond the mechanical changes.

Safety and Other Features

Bajaj has added Panic Brake Alert to the Pulsar N250SS. This feature is designed to warn following traffic during hard braking, helping make sudden deceleration more noticeable to other road users.

The hazard switch provides an additional way to signal a warning when required. The motorcycle also benefits from its existing braking and ABS equipment.

Together, the revised electronics and convenience features make the N250SS a more technology-focused version of the standard motorcycle.

Conclusion

The new Bajaj Pulsar N250SS brings meaningful mechanical and technology upgrades to the N250 lineup. Its four-valve engine, 25 PS output, six-speed gearbox and quickshifter distinguish it from the standard version, while the TFT display and electronic throttle body add modern functionality.

At ₹1.59 lakh ex-showroom in Delhi, the motorcycle offers a more feature-rich option for buyers interested in a 250cc streetfighter. Its overall appeal will depend on real-world performance, ride comfort, fuel efficiency and how much value buyers place on the additional equipment.

With these updates, Bajaj has expanded the Pulsar N250 range for riders seeking a more advanced motorcycle without moving to a larger engine category.
