Toyota Kirloskar Motor recorded domestic sales of 25,027 units in September 2026, marking a 7.61% decline compared with 27,089 units sold in September 2025. Sales also dropped 11.91% compared with August 2026, when the company sold 28,410 units in India.
For the July–September 2026 quarter, Toyota recorded domestic sales of 83,953 units, down 1.87% from 85,550 units in the corresponding quarter last year. The Urban Cruiser Hyryder remained the brand’s biggest contributor in September, while the Innova Hycross, Innova Crysta, Fortuner and Taisor continued to account for a substantial share of total volumes.
Despite the overall decline, several models registered positive year-on-year growth. The Rumion recorded a particularly strong increase, while the Fortuner, Taisor, Hilux and Camry also posted higher sales than in September 2025.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder emerged as the company's best-selling individual model in September 2026, recording 7,115 units. However, sales declined 6.48% from 7,608 units in September 2025.
The SUV also experienced a month-on-month decline compared with August. Nevertheless, its position at the top highlights the continued importance of the midsize SUV segment in Toyota's domestic portfolio.
The Hyryder is available with petrol and strong-hybrid powertrain options, appealing to customers seeking a combination of SUV styling, fuel efficiency and everyday practicality. Its contribution remains important to Toyota's overall sales performance.
The Innova Hycross recorded 4,595 units in September 2026, down 28.60% from 6,436 units a year earlier. The decline made it one of the major contributors to Toyota's lower year-on-year sales.
In contrast, the Innova Crysta registered 3,413 units, representing a modest 1.97% increase over 3,347 units in September 2025.
Combined, the two Innova models accounted for 8,008 units during the month. Their performance underlines the continued importance of Toyota's MPV range, which caters to private buyers, large families and commercial fleet operators.
While the Hycross offers a more modern cabin and a strong-hybrid option, the Crysta continues to attract customers who prefer its established diesel-powered MPV package.
The Toyota Fortuner recorded 3,185 units in September 2026, up 14.44% from 2,783 units in the same month last year. The SUV continued to deliver positive annual growth despite a month-on-month decline from August.
The Urban Cruiser Taisor performed even better in percentage terms, with sales reaching 3,097 units compared with 2,297 units a year earlier. This represents a 34.83% increase.
The Taisor's growth reflects its contribution to Toyota's compact SUV and crossover portfolio, while the Fortuner remains an important model in the premium SUV segment.
The Toyota Rumion posted 2,481 units in September 2026, compared with 829 units in September 2025. This represents a substantial 199.28% year-on-year increase.
The model also recorded higher sales than in August 2026. Its performance helped offset declines in some of Toyota's other high-volume vehicles.
As a practical MPV, the Rumion caters to buyers looking for a family-oriented vehicle with flexible seating and everyday usability. Its strong annual growth made it one of the notable performers in Toyota's September sales lineup.
Toyota's lifestyle pickup, the Hilux, recorded 376 units in September 2026, up 71.69% from 219 units in September 2025.
The premium Camry sedan registered 240 units, compared with 137 units a year earlier, translating into 75.18% growth. Although both models contribute relatively small volumes compared with Toyota's SUVs and MPVs, their year-on-year performances were positive.
The Hilux serves buyers looking for a rugged pickup, while the Camry targets customers interested in a premium sedan with a strong-hybrid powertrain.
The Toyota Glanza recorded 189 units in September 2026, compared with 3,299 units in September 2025. This represents a steep 94.27% decline.
The model also experienced a significant fall compared with August 2026. The sharp movement in monthly volumes stands out against the positive performances recorded by the Taisor, Rumion and Fortuner.
The reported sales figures show a substantial change in the Glanza's contribution to Toyota's monthly domestic total. However, the figures alone do not establish a single cause for the decline.
For the July–September 2026 quarter, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder led Toyota's model-wise domestic sales with 22,536 units, down 11.70% from 25,522 units in Q3 2025.
The Innova Hycross followed with 15,770 units, while the Innova Crysta recorded 11,177 units. The Fortuner and Taisor also posted year-on-year growth during the quarter.

The quarterly figures reveal a similar pattern to September's results. The Hyryder remained Toyota's biggest individual model, but sales were lower than a year earlier. The Innova Hycross also declined, while the Crysta delivered growth.
The Fortuner and Taisor continued to perform well, and the Rumion recorded the strongest percentage increase among the models listed. Meanwhile, the Glanza's quarterly sales fell considerably.
Toyota's domestic sales decline in September came alongside a reduction in combined domestic and export volumes. The company reported total sales of 28,218 units, including 25,027 domestic units and 3,191 exports.
For the first nine months of 2026, Toyota's combined domestic and export sales reached 2,94,914 units, up 8.10% from 2,72,824 units during January–September 2025.
This indicates that although the company faced softer domestic demand in September and a slightly weaker third quarter, its cumulative performance for the first nine months remained positive.
