Audi plans to bring the RS 5 sedan to India, but the company has not announced when it will be launched yet.
The Audi RS 5 was unveiled worldwide in February 2026 in two versions — Avant (station wagon) and Saloon (liftback). Audi has now confirmed that the RS 5 will come to India, but the launch date has not been announced yet. The company will bring only the sedan version to India as a fully imported model (CBU). At the same time, Audi has removed the older S5 Sportback from its India website.
This is the first RS model to get a hybrid engine setup, producing 639hp and 825Nm of torque.
It comes with smoked LED headlights, chequered-flag style DRLs, and 20-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the car gets three dashboard screens and sporty front bucket seats.
The expected price is around Rs 1.5 crore (ex-showroom).
Audi’s first hybrid RS car delivers 639hp and 825Nm of torque, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in just 3.6 seconds.
The Audi RS 5 is the brand’s first hybrid RS model in the world. It uses a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 engine that makes 510hp and 600Nm, along with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system producing 177hp and 460Nm. Together, the setup delivers a total power output of 639hp and 825Nm of torque.
The car comes with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and a limited-slip centre differential. Depending on driving conditions, it can send up to 70 percent of the power to the front wheels or up to 85 percent to the rear wheels for better performance and grip.
The electric motor is powered by a 25.9kWh battery pack, which Audi claims can deliver an electric-only driving range of more than 80km. The battery can be fully charged in 2.5 hours using an 11kW charger. Audi also says the RS 5 can sprint from 0 to 100kph in just 3.6 seconds.
Gets flared wheel arches, a massive grille and 20-inch alloys as standard
The RS 5 features a large honeycomb-pattern grille that connects to smaller air intakes on both sides of the bumper. Like other latest RS models, it also gets smoked Matrix LED headlights with a chequered-flag style DRL design.
As with other RS models, Audi has made the RS 5 wider than the standard A5 by 4cm on each side. The car gets flared wheel arches, 20-inch alloy wheels, and RS steel brakes as standard, with 420mm front discs and 400mm rear discs. On the UK-spec version, buyers can also choose optional 21-inch wheels and carbon-ceramic brakes with larger 440mm front and 410mm rear discs.
The sedan has a fastback-like sloping roof, and even the Avant’s roof slopes aggressively towards the rear, ending in a sharply raked rear windscreen. It gets the same connected OLED tail-lights as the regular third-gen B10 A5. The diffuser is gloss-black and features two massive oval tailpipes on both sides, part of an all-new RS exhaust system, which, Audi says, creates “the right soundtrack for each driving mode”.
Inside, the RS 5 gets three screens on the dashboard and physical buttons on the steering wheel.
Inside, the RS 5 comes with a three-screen layout as standard: an 11.9-inch digital driver display, a 14.5-inch OLED touchscreen in the centre, and a 10.9-inch display for the front passenger. There are no separate physical climate control buttons, as those settings are integrated into the main infotainment screen. However, Audi has kept physical buttons and scroll controls on the 3-spoke steering wheel, including dedicated controls for RS driving modes and a boost mode that gives maximum acceleration for up to 10 seconds.
The cabin has a sporty all-black theme with red accents and ambient lighting, including red stitching on the seats. The dashboard, door panels, and armrests use Dinamica suede-like upholstery, while the steering wheel is wrapped in Nappa leather.
Feature-wise, the global model gets heated, electrically adjustable bucket seats with a massage function. Seat ventilation and a sunroof are available as optional extras.
The RS 5 is expected to launch in India in 2026, with a likely price of around Rs 1.5 crore (ex-showroom).
As a fully imported CBU model, the RS 5 could arrive in India as early as this year. Audi is also preparing to bring models like the next-gen Q3, next-gen Q5, Q6 e-tron, and A6 e-tron.
The RS 5 is expected to cost around Rs 1.5 crore, which is much higher than the S5 Sportback, last priced at Rs 73.57 lakh before it was removed from Audi India’s website.
