Hyundai cars is preparing an expanded SUV lineup for India, with several new models and major updates expected over the coming years. The company is looking at multiple segments, from compact electric SUVs to larger three-row models, while hybrid technology is also expected to become an important part of its future portfolio.

Here are five upcoming Hyundai SUVs that could make a strong impact in the Indian market.

1. Next-Generation Hyundai Creta

The Creta is expected to enter its next generation with major changes to its design and cabin. The new model is likely to receive a more modern appearance, along with an updated dashboard and additional technology.

One of the biggest developments could be the introduction of a strong-hybrid powertrain. The new Creta is expected to continue with petrol and diesel engine options, while the hybrid version could offer improved fuel efficiency.

The next-generation SUV is expected around 2026-27 and will continue to compete in the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment.

2. New Hyundai 7-Seater Hybrid SUV

Hyundai is also developing a completely new three-row SUV that will sit in the upper-mid-size SUV segment. The model is expected to be around 4.7 metres long and could be offered with both six- and seven-seat configurations.

A strong-hybrid setup is expected to be one of its major highlights. The system is likely to combine a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor and battery pack.

The new SUV is expected to be manufactured in India and could take on established three-row SUVs from Tata and Mahindra. Production is expected to begin around late 2026 or early 2027.

3. Hyundai Inster-Based Compact Electric SUV

Hyundai is also working on a smaller electric SUV for the Indian market. The upcoming model is expected to take inspiration from the globally sold Inster and will target buyers looking for an affordable urban electric SUV.

The India-spec model is expected to use the E-GMP (K) architecture and could be offered with two battery options. International versions of the Inster are available with 42kWh and 49kWh battery packs.

The upcoming electric SUV could compete with models such as the Tata Punch EV and Citroen e-C3. Its compact dimensions and SUV styling are expected to make it suitable for city-focused buyers.

4. Hyundai Alcazar Hybrid

Hyundai could also bring hybrid technology to the Alcazar. The three-row SUV is expected to receive the company's 1.5-litre strong-hybrid system in the future.

The hybrid version would sit above the Creta and below Hyundai's upcoming larger three-row SUV. Along with better fuel economy, the hybrid powertrain could help reduce emissions and make the Alcazar more attractive to customers looking for a fuel-efficient family SUV.

The hybrid Alcazar is expected to arrive around 2027, although the exact launch schedule may change.

5. Hyundai Palisade

The Palisade is expected to become Hyundai's flagship SUV offering in India. The large three-row SUV would target customers looking for a premium and spacious family vehicle and could also compete with popular full-size SUVs.

The India-bound version is expected to use a 2.5-litre hybrid petrol powertrain. The hybrid system combines the petrol engine with electric motors and a battery pack, with the global version developing around 329 bhp and 459 Nm.

In terms of design, the Palisade features a large and imposing appearance, vertically positioned lighting elements, a wide grille and a premium cabin loaded with technology.

Hyundai's Future SUV Plans

The upcoming models show that Hyundai is preparing a broader strategy for the Indian SUV market. The company is expected to focus on petrol, hybrid and electric powertrains rather than relying on a single type of technology.
