Kia Carens Clavis EV Gets 15-Year Unlimited-Km Battery Warranty for First Owners

Kia India has introduced an extended high-voltage battery warranty for the Carens Clavis EV, offering first private owners coverage for up to 15 years with unlimited kilometres. The enhanced warranty applies to Carens Clavis EVs retailed from August 1, 2026.

The new policy is focused specifically on the high-voltage battery's capacity. For the first purchaser, Kia provides lifetime coverage, defined as 15 years from the vehicle delivery date, with unlimited kilometres, provided battery capacity falls below 70% of its original capacity.

Kia Carens Clavis EV Battery Warranty Explained

Existing Carens Clavis EV Owners Can Also Upgrade

Kia has also extended the enhanced warranty option to eligible customers who purchased their Carens Clavis EV before August 1, 2026. These owners can upgrade their high-voltage battery coverage from the standard 8 years or 1,60,000 km to 15 years with unlimited kilometres by paying a one-time administrative fee of ₹3,400, inclusive of taxes.

The upgrade is subject to Kia's programme terms and conditions and a vehicle evaluation at an authorised dealership.

Warranty Changes After Ownership Transfer

The unlimited-kilometre battery coverage is linked to the first private owner. If the vehicle is sold, the second owner receives coverage of 8 years or 1,60,000 km, whichever comes first, from the original vehicle delivery date.

Similarly, vehicles used commercially, including taxis and fleet vehicles, continue to receive 8 years or 1,60,000 km of high-voltage battery capacity warranty.

Carens Clavis EV Battery Options and Price

The Kia Carens Clavis EV is available with 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery options, with prices starting at ₹18.04 lakh (ex-showroom). Kia offers multiple variants and battery configurations across the range.

The new battery warranty comes alongside Kia's broader EV ownership initiatives, including its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme and K-Charge charging ecosystem.

What This Means for Carens Clavis EV Buyers

The revised policy provides substantially longer high-voltage battery capacity coverage for the first private owner. However, the "lifetime" terminology should be understood as 15 years from vehicle delivery, rather than an unlimited-duration warranty. Kia's official warranty policy specifically defines the coverage as 15 years with unlimited kilometres for the first purchaser when battery capacity falls below 70% of its original capacity
