Kia India has outlined an ambitious long-term strategy aimed at strengthening its position in the Indian passenger vehicle market. The automaker is working towards a 10-model lineup by 2030, with a strong emphasis on offering customers multiple powertrain choices, including petrol, diesel, CNG, hybrid and electric vehicles.
The company believes the Indian market will continue to support a mix of propulsion technologies rather than shifting entirely to a single solution. As a result, Kia plans to offer products across every major powertrain category, allowing customers to choose the option that best suits their driving needs.
One of the biggest highlights of Kia's future roadmap is the development of a strong hybrid version of the Seltos. The company is currently focusing on localising the hybrid technology to make it more affordable and competitive for Indian buyers. While an official launch timeline has not been announced, the hybrid SUV is expected to play a key role in Kia's electrification strategy.
Kia is also evaluating the possibility of introducing a fully electric version of the Seltos ev. Although the project has not yet been confirmed, the company continues to study customer demand and market potential before making a final decision.
Alongside hybrid and electric vehicles, Kia is preparing to enter the factory-fitted CNG segment. Development work is currently underway, with the brand exploring CNG options for multiple models instead of limiting the technology to a single vehicle. This move is expected to help Kia attract buyers looking for lower running costs and improved fuel efficiency.
The recently introduced Kia Syros EV further strengthens the brand's electric vehicle lineup. The model is available with two battery pack options, catering to different driving requirements. The larger battery offers a claimed driving range of up to 526 km, while the 42 kWh version delivers a claimed range of 443 km, making it suitable for urban and intercity travel.
To improve customer confidence in EV ownership, Kia is also offering an 80 percent buyback value after three years for eligible private buyers, along with a lifetime warranty on the high-voltage battery for the first owner under the introductory scheme.
Kia cars India has reported healthy growth in recent months, supported by strong demand across its product portfolio. Looking ahead, the company aims to achieve annual sales of 4.1 lakh units by 2030, targeting a market share of around 7.6 percent.
With investments spanning internal combustion engines, strong hybrids, CNG and electric vehicles, Kia is building a diversified product portfolio designed to meet the evolving preferences of Indian customers over the coming years
