Volkswagen India has introduced the Virtus Anniversary Edition to celebrate four years of the premium sedan in the Indian market. While the special edition commemorates the model's successful journey, its launch also hints that the Volkswagen Virtus Facelift may not be far away.
The announcement comes shortly after Skoda unveiled the limited-run Slavia Monte Carlo editions, with the Slavia facelift already scheduled for launch on August 18. Given that the Virtus and Slavia share the same platform and development cycle, the new Anniversary Edition could act as a final special variant before the facelifted Virtus arrives.
The Anniversary Edition is based on the Virtus GT Plus Sport variant and introduces an exclusive Avocado Pearl exterior paint finish. The new colour is paired with a contrasting black roof and black alloy wheels, giving the sedan a sportier appearance.
Volkswagen has priced the Virtus Anniversary Edition at ₹19.19 lakh (ex-showroom). The company has confirmed that the model will be available in limited numbers across dealerships.
There are no mechanical updates in the Anniversary Edition. It continues to be powered by the familiar:
The powertrain remains unchanged, delivering the same performance that has made the Virtus GT one of the most engaging sedans in its segment.
The Anniversary Edition retains the feature list offered with the GT Plus Sport variant, including:
Volkswagen is also offering a range of genuine dealer-installed accessories for the Virtus and Taigun, including a 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, and puddle lamps.
The launch strategy closely mirrors Skoda's recent introduction of the Slavia Monte Carlo dual-tone editions, which were offered in exclusive colours and limited production numbers.
Since both sedans are built on the MQB-A0-IN platform and manufactured at Volkswagen Group's Chakan facility in Maharashtra, the back-to-back launch of special editions suggests a coordinated product strategy before the arrival of updated models.
The Virtus Anniversary Edition's Avocado Pearl paint also closely resembles the Shimla Green shade introduced on the Slavia Monte Carlo, highlighting the shared development approach between the two brands.
The upcoming Volkswagen Virtus Facelift has already been spotted testing in India. With the Skoda Slavia facelift set to debut on August 18, industry expectations suggest the refreshed Virtus could follow soon after.
Although Volkswagen has not officially confirmed the facelift timeline, manufacturers often introduce limited-edition variants near the end of a model's lifecycle to maintain customer interest and clear existing inventory before launching an updated version.
The Anniversary Edition, therefore, appears to be more than just a celebratory model—it could be the final special edition before the arrival of the next-generation styling and feature updates for the Virtus
