2026 Maruti Brezza Facelift Launch Tomorrow: Turbo-Petrol Engine and 6-Speed Manual Gearbox to Make Debut
Key Highlights
Maruti Suzuki is all set to introduce the 2026 Brezza Facelift in India, bringing major changes to one of the country’s most popular compact SUVs. While the updated Brezza has already gained attention for achieving a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating, the biggest updates come in the form of new powertrain options and transmission technology.
For the first time since its launch nearly a decade ago, the Brezza will offer buyers multiple engine choices, including a new turbo-petrol engine option.
2026 Maruti Brezza Gets New Turbo-Petrol Engine
The biggest highlight of the new Brezza is the arrival of Maruti Suzuki’s 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine. This three-cylinder turbocharged motor is already available in the Fronx but will make its debut in the Brezza lineup.
The engine is expected to deliver around 110 bhp of power and 170 Nm of torque and will be offered exclusively with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
This move marks a major shift for the Brezza, giving customers a more performance-oriented alternative alongside the existing naturally aspirated petrol engine.
Brezza Becomes First Maruti Car with 6-Speed Manual Gearbox
The introduction of the turbo-petrol engine also brings a new transmission milestone for Maruti Suzuki. The 2026 Brezza will become the first Maruti Suzuki passenger vehicle to feature a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Until now, Maruti’s manual transmission-equipped passenger cars have primarily used a 5-speed gearbox. Interestingly, even the Fronx, which uses the same Boosterjet engine, continues with a 5-speed manual setup.
Two Petrol Engine Options for the First Time
The updated Brezza will also introduce multiple engine choices for the first time. Earlier versions of the SUV followed a single-engine strategy.
The first-generation Brezza was launched with a 1.3-litre diesel engine, but after Maruti discontinued diesel-powered passenger vehicles, the SUV continued only with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine.
With the 2026 facelift, customers will have the option of choosing between:
This gives buyers more flexibility depending on their performance and efficiency requirements.
2026 Maruti Brezza Variants and Gearbox Options
According to Bharat NCAP documents, the 1.5-litre petrol engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox will be available across LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi+ variants.
The 6-speed automatic transmission will be offered with the VXi, ZXi and ZXi+ trims.
Meanwhile, the new 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine, paired only with the 6-speed manual gearbox, will also be available across multiple variants
