Kawasaki bikes has officially unveiled the 2027 KLE650, a new middleweight adventure motorcycle positioned above the recently introduced KLE500. The new model combines a 649cc parallel-twin engine with rally-inspired styling, long-travel suspension and modern electronic rider aids.
The motorcycle will be available in standard and premium SE variants in international markets from 2027. Both versions receive traction control and electronic cruise control, while the SE adds a quickshifter, TFT display, tubeless spoked wheels and additional touring equipment.
However, Kawasaki has not confirmed an India launch or Indian pricing for the KLE650.
The new KLE650 uses an updated 649cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine based on Kawasaki's established middleweight platform. The engine features electronic throttle valves and revised intake and exhaust systems to improve throttle response and low-to-mid-range performance.
According to Kawasaki's US specifications, the motorcycle produces 70 hp at 8,600 rpm and 64 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. A six-speed gearbox and an assist-and-slipper clutch complete the powertrain.
The engine is designed to offer enough performance for highway cruising, overtaking and long-distance touring while maintaining a smooth power delivery. Electronic throttle control also enables features such as cruise control and supports the motorcycle's modern engine-management system.
The 2027 KLE650 features a rugged design with larger body panels than the smaller KLE500. Its styling includes a tall adjustable windscreen, distinctive front lighting, a high-mounted front mudguard and an upswept exhaust.
The motorcycle uses a steel trellis frame inspired by the KLE500. Kawasaki has paired it with a 21-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel, a configuration suited to adventure touring and occasional rough-road riding.
The standard model comes with spoked wheels and tube-type tyres, while the SE variant gets tubeless tyres on spoked wheels. The motorcycle is designed to balance everyday usability, highway comfort and adventure-oriented capability.
Kawasaki has equipped the KLE650 with long-travel suspension to handle varied road conditions.
At the front, it gets a 43mm inverted fork with approximately 210mm of travel. The rear uses a Uni-Trak monoshock with adjustable preload and around 195mm of travel.
Braking duties are handled by twin 300mm front discs and a 230mm rear disc, supported by ABS. The motorcycle also offers selectable ABS functionality, giving riders additional flexibility for different riding conditions.
The 21-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear wheel are fitted with Dunlop Trailmax Mixtour tyres in the US specification.
Both KLE650 variants receive Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC) and electronic cruise control as standard. Traction control helps manage rear-wheel slip during acceleration, while cruise control can reduce rider fatigue during suitable highway journeys.
The standard model features a 5-inch LCD instrument panel with smartphone connectivity. The premium SE upgrades to a 5-inch TFT display and adds several convenience and touring features.
These include a bi-directional quickshifter, USB-C charging socket, handguards, a larger windscreen and an aluminium bash plate. The SE's tubeless spoked wheels are another useful addition for touring riders.
Kawasaki will also offer accessory-based editions, including Top Case, Rally and Adventure Tourer configurations, allowing buyers to customise the motorcycle for their riding needs.

In the UK, Kawasaki has announced a price of £7,499 for the standard KLE650 and £8,899 for the KLE650 SE. Both variants are scheduled to become available from April 2027.
The standard model will be offered in Metallic Matte Graphenesteel Gray, while the SE will be available in Pearl Storm Gray and Pearl Blizzard White.
These are UK prices and should not be treated as estimates of the eventual Indian price. Kawasaki has not announced whether the motorcycle will be sold in India.
An India launch remains unconfirmed. If introduced, the KLE650 could attract riders looking for a twin-cylinder adventure motorcycle with long-travel suspension, cruise control and touring-focused equipment.
Potential alternatives in the broader adventure and touring segment include the Honda NX500, Suzuki V-Strom 800DE and Triumph Tiger Sport 660, although their designs and intended riding applications differ.
The KLE650's success in India would depend on its pricing, equipment, availability and suitability for local riding conditions. Buyers should wait for an official announcement before expecting a launch date or booking schedule.
The 2027 Kawasaki KLE650 expands the brand's adventure motorcycle lineup with a 649cc twin-cylinder engine, 70 hp, long-travel suspension and standard cruise control. The SE variant adds a quickshifter, TFT display, tubeless spoked wheels and extra touring equipment.
International sales are scheduled to begin in 2027, but an India launch has not been confirmed. The KLE650 could become an interesting option for adventure-touring enthusiasts if Kawasaki eventually brings it to the Indian market.
