Kia cars is preparing to introduce the next-generation Seltos Hybrid, with the model expected to make its global debut later this year before reaching key international markets such as Europe and the United States. The hybrid SUV is also expected to arrive in India in 2027. Ahead of its official reveal, the upcoming model has been spotted undergoing high-altitude testing in the European Alps, providing a closer look at what buyers can expect.
The spy images indicate that the hybrid version will closely resemble the standard petrol-powered Seltos. Most of the exterior styling remains unchanged, with only light camouflage covering the front and rear sections of the test vehicle.
One noticeable distinction is the introduction of a new alloy wheel design, which appears to be exclusive to the hybrid variant. Apart from these subtle changes, the SUV retains the same overall silhouette, lighting elements and body styling as the regular model.
The new-generation Seltos is already available in some European countries with a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine, while several markets are expected to receive only the hybrid version later this year.
For global markets, Kia has confirmed that the Seltos Hybrid will use a 1.6-litre GDI Hybrid (HEV) petrol engine paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT). The new powertrain has been developed to deliver improved fuel efficiency while maintaining smooth everyday drivability.
Buyers will be able to choose between two drivetrain options:
The e-AWD system will be a first for the Kia Seltos and is designed to intelligently distribute torque between all four wheels for greater stability and confidence.
India-Spec Powertrain Expected
For the Indian market, the Seltos Hybrid is expected to feature a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a hybrid system. Existing petrol and diesel engine options are likely to continue alongside the new hybrid variant once it is introduced.
Inside the cabin, the Seltos Hybrid is expected to retain the premium layout seen on the standard model while adding several hybrid-exclusive technologies.
Expected features include:
The Smart Regenerative Braking 3.0 system is designed to automatically adjust regenerative braking based on traffic conditions, helping maintain a safe distance from vehicles ahead while improving energy recovery.
Another notable addition is Stay Mode, allowing occupants to continue using air conditioning and infotainment functions while the vehicle remains stationary without unnecessary engine operation.
Kia is expected to unveil the new Seltos Hybrid globally later this year, with sales beginning in Europe and the United States shortly after. The India launch is anticipated in 2027, where the hybrid SUV will strengthen Kia's electrified lineup and compete in the rapidly growing hybrid SUV segment.
With improved fuel efficiency, new hybrid technology and an extensive list of premium features, the upcoming 2027 Kia Seltos Hybrid is expected to become one of Kia's most significant product launches in the coming years
