Tata Motors is preparing to introduce a significantly updated compact sedan in India, and recent reports suggest that the facelifted Tigor could receive a new identity — Tata Aeris. The company has registered the “Tata Aeris” trademark for land vehicles and related parts, adding weight to speculation around the new name. However, Tata Motors has not officially confirmed that the upcoming sedan will be called Aeris.
The new sedan is expected to make its debut on September 25, 2026. Tata's social media activity has also been reported as pointing towards this date.
The upcoming model is expected to receive more than a minor cosmetic update. Patent images and reports indicate a redesigned front fascia with slimmer headlamps, revised LED lighting, a black connecting element and a larger bumper. The rear section could also get revised tail-lamp detailing and a redesigned bumper, while new alloy wheel designs are expected to add to the updated appearance.
The overall sedan silhouette is expected to remain familiar, but the styling changes could give the model a look closer to Tata's newer-generation products.
The cabin is also expected to receive substantial updates. Reports suggest that Tata could take inspiration from the recently updated Tiago for the dashboard and equipment package.
Potential features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, Type-C charging ports and a 360-degree camera. Six airbags and other electronic safety features are also expected, although the final equipment list has not yet been officially announced.
The existing 1.2-litre petrol engine is expected to continue, while the factory-fitted CNG option could also be carried forward. The current Tigor's petrol setup produces around 86 PS and 113 Nm, while the CNG version develops approximately 75.5 PS and 96.5 Nm. Five-speed manual and AMT transmission options are expected to remain available, subject to final confirmation.
An electric version is also being discussed in reports, potentially under the Aeris.ev name, but Tata Motors has not yet confirmed its launch timeline.
The new sedan is expected to continue in India's compact sedan segment and compete with models such as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze. The official price will be announced by Tata Motors, with reports currently placing the expected range around ₹6 lakh–₹10 lakh (ex-showroom).

The reported Aeris name could represent more than a routine facelift. Tata may use the new identity alongside the updated exterior, refreshed cabin and additional features to distinguish the sedan from the outgoing Tigor. However, the Aeris name remains unconfirmed until Tata Motors makes an official announcement.
