JSW MG Motor India has expanded its electric SUV portfolio with the new Hector Tomahawk EV, positioning it as a spacious and feature-rich family SUV. The electric SUV is available in five- and seven-seat configurations and gets a 69.2 kWh battery pack, a front-wheel-drive setup and a claimed range of up to 517 km on a single charge.
The Hector Tomahawk EV is powered by a single electric motor producing 201 bhp and 310 Nm. MG claims a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 8.2 seconds. In the initial media-drive review, real-world range was estimated at around 400-420 km, although a longer test would be required to establish actual everyday efficiency.
One of the major highlights of the Hector Tomahawk EV is its cabin space. With a 2,810 mm wheelbase, the SUV offers generous room for passengers. The tested five-seat version featured supportive front seats with electric adjustment and ventilation, while the driver gets three memory settings.
Rear passengers get a reclining bench, rear AC vents, USB-A and USB-C charging ports, a centre armrest with cupholders and rear window sunshades. MG also offers the SUV with flexible five- and seven-seat configurations.
The five-seat model has a 610-litre boot, giving it substantial luggage-carrying capacity. The seven-seat version offers 192 litres with all three rows in use and 528 litres with the third row folded.
The dashboard is dominated by a large 15.6-inch infotainment screen, while the SUV also gets a digital driver's display. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are supported, and the review noted that both looked expansive on the large touchscreen.
Other notable equipment includes a wireless charging pad, powered tailgate, ventilated front seats, 256-colour ambient lighting and an Infinity premium audio system with a subwoofer.
The Hector Tomahawk EV also gets a 540-degree camera with an underbody view, which can be useful while navigating tight spaces and difficult surfaces.
MG's official specifications also list Level 2 ADAS, six airbags, electronic stability control, TPMS and ABS with EBD.
The 201 bhp electric motor delivers 310 Nm of torque through the front wheels. The initial review found acceleration to be brisk, with the tested vehicle reaching 100 km/h in approximately 8.5-9 seconds during repeated runs.
The suspension setup is tuned towards comfort rather than sporty handling. According to the review, the SUV handled broken roads and bumps well, while body roll remained reasonably controlled despite its size and weight.
However, the review also highlighted some areas that could be improved. Steering feedback was described as lacking precision, while braking performance was considered an area where the SUV could offer more confidence. Its large dimensions and turning radius can also make manoeuvring in tight areas more demanding.
The Hector Tomahawk EV uses MG's 69.2 kWh MAGIC Battery and has a claimed 517 km certified range. MG notes that actual range will vary according to driving style, load, terrain, air-conditioning use and road conditions.
One of the major technology highlights is Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) functionality. MG says the Hector Tomahawk EV can supply electricity to a home during a power outage. It also supports V2L for powering compatible external devices and appliances.

The MG Hector Tomahawk EV's key strengths are its cabin space, comfortable ride, practical boot, extensive equipment and EV-specific technologies. The large touchscreen, premium audio system, 540-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS and V2H capability give the SUV a technology-focused package.
The initial drive also identified some compromises, including steering feel, braking response and the challenge of manoeuvring a large SUV in tighter spaces. The real-world range estimate will also need to be validated through longer-term testing.
Overall, the review positions the Hector Tomahawk EV primarily around space, comfort and everyday family usability, rather than sporty driving dynamics
