December Car Sales Report 2024

In the last month, December 2024, it seems a robust performance in the Indian Car Market. Total car sales reached at 3,21,345 units, marking an 11.9% year-on-year growth compared to 2,87,204 units in December 2023. Like most times, Maruti Suzuki continued to lead and dominate the market by maintaining its highest-ever sales and holding leadership with 1,30,115 units sold and recording a 24.2% YoY growth. This table shows the car sales performance of various Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in India for December 2024, comparing it to December 2023 (YoY) and November 2024 (MoM). Here's a summary:

Maruti Suzuki maintained its leadership with a 24.2% YoY growth, although sales fell by 7.9% MoM. It gained 4% in market share (MS), reaching 40.5%.

Maruti Suzuki Sales December 2024

Tata had a small YoY growth of 1.7%, but saw a 6% MoM decline, losing 1.4% in MS to 13.8%.
Hyundai faced a slight YoY dip of 1.3% and a significant MoM drop of 12.5%, with its MS falling to 13.1%.
Mahindra saw a strong YoY growth of 17.8%, but its MoM sales dropped by 10.4%, gaining a marginal 0.6% in MS.
Toyota experienced a 16.4% YoY increase and a minor 1.2% MoM drop, with a slight gain of 0.3% in MS to 7.7%.
Kia had a sharp decline of 28.5% YoY and 56.5% MoM, losing 1.6% in market share.

KIA India December Sales

MG showed impressive growth with a 70.8% YoY increase and a 24.9% MoM rise, boosting its market share by 0.8%.
Honda, VW, and Skoda had mixed results, with VW and Skoda showing strong MoM growth but YoY declines.
Renault and Nissan experienced small changes in sales, with Renault showing a positive YoY growth of 44.9% and minor MoM gains.
Citroen and Jeep saw declines in sales both YoY and MoM.

Overall, the Indian car market grew 11.9% YoY in December 2024, but there was a slight month-on-month decline of 8.6%.
