Maruti Suzuki cars India has recorded strong festive-season demand, delivering around 30,000 vehicles on the occasion of Dhanteras 2026. The performance follows an encouraging Navratri season, during which the company witnessed a significant increase in customer bookings and vehicle deliveries across India.
The country's largest passenger car manufacturer has also reported more than 4 lakh retail sales between Ganesh Chaturthi and November 6, 2026. This reflects the strong buying sentiment among Indian customers during the festive season.
The company is now expecting its festive-period retail deliveries to cross 70,000 units, indicating continued demand during the Diwali celebrations.
Maruti Suzuki delivered approximately 30,000 vehicles across the country on Dhanteras, November 6, 2026. This is an important milestone for the automaker, as Dhanteras is traditionally considered an auspicious occasion for purchasing cars, motorcycles, gold and other valuable items in India.
The company had witnessed strong demand even before Dhanteras. According to Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales at Maruti Suzuki India, the company recorded retail sales of more than 4 lakh vehicles between Ganesh Chaturthi on September 14 and November 6.
During the corresponding period last year, the company recorded approximately 3.46 lakh retail sales. This means its sales increased by around 16% during the comparable festive period.
The company expects the positive momentum to continue during the remaining Diwali celebrations.
Navratri played an important role in Maruti Suzuki's festive-season performance. The company reported approximately 35% year-on-year growth in retail deliveries during Navratri. By the end of Dussehra, the growth had increased to around 36%.
This indicates that customers were actively purchasing vehicles throughout the festive period rather than waiting until Dhanteras or Diwali.
Improved customer sentiment, attractive vehicle options and the updated models in Maruti Suzuki's portfolio have contributed to this performance.
Two models that have received considerable customer attention during the festive season are the Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Baleno.
The updated Maruti Suzuki Baleno crossed 50,000 sales within approximately two months, while the Brezza crossed 70,000 units during the same period, according to the company's sales update.
Both models have also received strong booking responses, indicating that customer interest remains high.
The Baleno continues to attract buyers looking for a practical premium hatchback with comfortable cabin space and everyday usability. Meanwhile, the Brezza remains an important option for customers interested in a compact SUV.
Their performance has helped Maruti Suzuki maintain demand across different passenger vehicle categories.
The strong festive-season performance follows another major achievement for Maruti Suzuki in October 2026.
The company recorded total wholesale sales of 2,76,120 vehicles during October, representing approximately 25% growth compared with 2,20,894 units in October 2025.
Domestic passenger vehicle sales reached 2,12,384 units, registering 20.5% year-on-year growth.
The company's October sales also included:
Domestic sales, including light commercial vehicles: 2,16,789 units.
Exports: 49,872 units.
Sales to other original equipment manufacturers: 9,459 units.
The strong monthly performance highlights the company's position in India's passenger vehicle market.
Maruti Suzuki is witnessing demand across multiple vehicle categories. Its utility vehicle segment recorded 26% year-on-year growth in October 2026, with sales reaching 97,787 units.
The company's SUV and MPV portfolio includes popular models such as the Brezza, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Victoris and Ertiga.
At the same time, the mini, compact and mid-size passenger car category recorded sales of 1,00,877 units, representing 18.4% growth compared with the previous year.
This shows that demand is not limited to SUVs. Small cars and hatchbacks continue to attract buyers looking for affordable and practical personal transportation.
Despite strong demand, Maruti Suzuki is facing a challenge in fulfilling customer orders quickly.
The company has approximately 2.5 lakh pending bookings across its vehicle portfolio. This reflects the gap between customer demand and the available supply of certain models.
CNG-powered vehicles account for a considerable portion of these pending orders. Around 47% of the company's outstanding bookings are for CNG models.
Maruti Suzuki has indicated that component supply constraints are affecting the availability of some CNG vehicles. The company expects supply conditions to improve from January 2027.
Improving production and ensuring timely vehicle deliveries will be important for the automaker as it enters the remaining months of FY2026-27.
Looking ahead, Maruti Suzuki expects to deliver more than 70,000 vehicles during the extended festive period covering Dhanteras and the subsequent Diwali celebrations.
The company is targeting approximately 12-15% growth in festive retail deliveries compared with the corresponding period last year.
However, the automaker will need to manage its large booking backlog and improve vehicle availability to meet customer expectations.
Maruti Suzuki's performance during the 2026 festive season highlights the continued strength of India's passenger vehicle market. Around 30,000 Dhanteras deliveries, more than 4 lakh retail sales since Ganesh Chaturthi and strong demand for models such as the Brezza and Baleno indicate positive customer sentiment.
However, the company's large pending booking numbers show that meeting demand remains an important priority. If production and component availability improve as expected, Maruti Suzuki could maintain its sales momentum during the remaining months of FY2027.
