Renault cars India has officially commenced customer deliveries of the new Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 in India. The first unit was delivered in Hyderabad on November 6, 2026, marking an important milestone for the French automaker's electrification journey in the Indian market.
The first customer handover took place at Renault's newly inaugurated new'R showroom in HITEC City, Hyderabad. The event was attended by Francisco Hidalgo, Vice President – Sales and Marketing, Renault Group India, who handed over the keys to T Krishna Gopal, CEO of Eduzi Academy.
Launched in India on October 17, 2026, the Renault Duster Strong Hybrid is positioned as a fuel-efficient midsize SUV with a claimed mileage of 29 kmpl. Prices start at Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom), making it a new competitor to established strong-hybrid SUVs from Maruti Suzuki and Toyota.
The commencement of deliveries comes ahead of the festive season, as Renault looks to strengthen its presence in India's growing hybrid SUV segment.
Hyderabad became the location for the first customer delivery of the Renault Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160. The handover ceremony was organised at the company's new showroom in HITEC City.
According to Renault, Hyderabad is among the leading Indian markets in terms of bookings for the newly introduced hybrid SUV. The company believes that increasing interest in advanced mobility technologies is helping generate demand for the model.
The first customer, T Krishna Gopal, received the vehicle from Francisco Hidalgo. Renault has described the commencement of deliveries as an important step towards bringing its global hybrid technology to Indian customers.
The delivery event also coincided with the inauguration of Renault's largest showroom in Hyderabad, further highlighting the company's focus on improving its retail and customer experience.
The Renault Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 is available in three variants: Evolution, Techno and Emotion.

The starting price of Rs 16.99 lakh makes the hybrid version an important addition to Renault's Duster lineup. Customers can book the SUV through Renault dealerships.
The introductory prices are applicable to deliveries completed by December 31, 2026, according to published launch information. Buyers should confirm the final on-road price, insurance and applicable offers with their nearest dealership.
One of the biggest highlights of the new Renault Duster is its Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 powertrain.
The SUV combines a 1.8-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine using Atkinson-cycle technology with two electric motors and a 1.4 kWh battery pack.
The hybrid system produces a combined output of 160 PS. Power is delivered through Renault's multi-mode automatic transmission.
The powertrain can operate using electric power, the petrol engine or a combination of both, depending on driving conditions and battery charge.
Unlike a fully electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid, the Duster Strong Hybrid does not require an external charging connection. Its battery receives energy through regenerative braking and the petrol engine.
Renault claims that the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in approximately 9.6 seconds, making it suitable for both city commutes and highway journeys.
Fuel efficiency is expected to be one of the major selling points of the Renault Duster Strong Hybrid.
Renault claims an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figure of 29 kmpl. The company also claims that the SUV can offer a driving range of up to 1,400 km on a full tank under specified conditions.
Another interesting feature is its ability to complete up to 80% of city driving in electric mode, depending on driving conditions.
The hybrid system is designed to reduce petrol consumption, particularly in stop-and-go traffic. Regenerative braking helps recharge the battery whenever the vehicle slows down or brakes.
These features could make the Duster Hybrid an attractive option for buyers looking for an SUV with better fuel efficiency without depending on external charging infrastructure.
The Renault Duster Strong Hybrid also gets several exterior and interior updates to distinguish it from other versions of the SUV.
Some of the key highlights include:
Illuminated Duster branding on the front grille.
LED headlamps and rear LED lighting.
E-Tech hybrid badging.
18-inch alloy wheels.
212 mm ground clearance.
10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen on equipped variants.
10.25-inch digital instrument cluster on select variants.
Panoramic sunroof.
Ventilated front seats.
Dual-zone automatic climate control.
Six airbags.
Feature availability varies depending on the selected variant. The equipment list is aimed at making the Duster competitive in the premium midsize SUV category.
Alongside the commencement of Duster Hybrid deliveries, Renault India inaugurated its new'R showroom in HITEC City, Hyderabad.
The new facility covers approximately 7,000 square feet and has the capacity to display eight vehicles. It is Renault's largest showroom in Hyderabad and the 30th new'R-format showroom established by the company in India.
The showroom is operated in partnership with VVC Group. With this new facility, the dealership partner now operates three Renault showrooms and two workshops in Hyderabad.
Renault is also working towards upgrading its dealership network across major Indian markets. The company plans to convert all 73 showrooms across its top 24 cities to the new'R format by July 2027.
These 24 markets account for nearly half of Renault India's sales. Around 30 showrooms have already been upgraded under the programme.
The new Duster Strong Hybrid enters an increasingly competitive midsize SUV segment. Its primary rivals include:
Offers a strong-hybrid powertrain focused on fuel efficiency and everyday usability.
A newer midsize SUV offering petrol and strong-hybrid powertrain options.
One of the established strong-hybrid SUV choices in the Indian market.
The Duster Hybrid will need to compete through its combination of SUV styling, claimed fuel efficiency, hybrid technology, equipment and pricing.
The commencement of deliveries represents an important step in Renault India's future product strategy.
The Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 is the first electrified product under the company's futuREady roadmap in India. It brings Renault's strong-hybrid technology to a market where demand for fuel-efficient SUVs is increasing.
The company is also working on improving its dealership experience through upgraded new'R showrooms and better customer facilities.
With deliveries now underway, the Duster Hybrid will begin reaching customers across India. Its actual market performance will depend on customer response, availability, ownership costs and competition from established hybrid SUVs.
