New BMW X1 LWB Teased Ahead of India Launch on August 21

BMW cars India is set to expand its luxury SUV portfolio with the launch of the new BMW X1 Long Wheelbase (LWB) on August 21, 2026. The upcoming model has been officially teased ahead of its debut and will offer a more spacious cabin than the standard X1, targeting buyers who prioritize rear-seat comfort.

The X1 LWB will be assembled in India from CKD (Completely Knocked Down) kits at BMW's Chennai manufacturing facility, helping the brand maintain competitive pricing in the premium SUV segment.

Larger Dimensions, More Cabin Space

The India-spec BMW X1 LWB is expected to retain the same exterior dimensions as the version sold overseas.

Compared to the standard BMW X1 sold in India, the Long Wheelbase version is:

The increased wheelbase is expected to translate into significantly better rear-seat legroom, making the X1 LWB more comfortable for chauffeur-driven buyers and families.

Exterior Design

The overall styling remains familiar to the standard X1, while retaining BMW's latest SUV design language.

2.0-litre Turbo Diesel

Expected Price and Rivals

The standard BMW X1 is currently priced between ₹50.90 lakh and ₹52.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Given its larger dimensions and enhanced rear-seat comfort, the X1 LWB is expected to command a slight premium.

At launch, the BMW X1 Long Wheelbase is likely to create a niche of its own, offering luxury SUV buyers a more spacious alternative without moving into a larger segment.
