BYD has established itself as one of India’s leading premium electric vehicle manufacturers, currently offering models through the Completely Built-Up (CBU) import route via its growing dealership network. Alongside its main BYD lineup, the company operates multiple global brands, including Denza, Fangchengbao, Yangwang and Linghui.
Among these brands, Denza represents BYD’s luxury division, and the brand is now preparing to enter the Indian market. Initially, Denza models are expected to be sold through BYD’s existing dealership network, while a dedicated Denza retail network could be introduced at a later stage.
The first model from the luxury brand for India is expected to be the BYD Denza D9 electric luxury MPV, which will compete in the premium people-mover segment.
BYD has already patented several Denza models in India, indicating the company’s plans to expand its premium portfolio. While the Denza N9 luxury SUV has also received attention, the Denza D9 MPV is expected to become the brand’s first India-bound model.
Globally, the Denza D9 is available with both electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains. However, the Indian market is expected to receive only the fully electric version initially.
The luxury MPV is likely to arrive around the Diwali 2026 festive season, as BYD is reportedly preparing for shipments to India. If the launch timeline gets delayed, the model could make its debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2027.
Once launched, the Denza D9 will compete with premium MPVs such as the MG M9, Toyota Vellfire, Mercedes-Benz V-Class and Lexus LM.
The Denza D9 is expected to be positioned above the MG M9, which is priced at around ₹79.95 lakh (ex-showroom). Considering its luxury positioning and premium features, the BYD Denza D9 could be priced around ₹90 lakh (ex-showroom).
