Ducati Monster V2 India Launch Scheduled for August 10 – New Engine, Lighter Chassis & Fresh Design

Ducati is all set to introduce the new Monster V2 in India on August 10. The updated naked motorcycle marks a significant evolution of the Monster lineup, featuring an all-new 890cc V2 engine, revised styling, a lighter chassis and several engineering improvements aimed at enhancing both performance and everyday usability.

The upcoming model will replace the existing Monster powered by the 937cc V-twin engine and is expected to offer a more refined riding experience without compromising the brand's signature sporty character.

New 890cc V2 Engine

At the heart of the new Monster V2 is Ducati's latest 890cc V2 liquid-cooled engine, which also powers motorcycles like the Panigale V2, Streetfighter V2 and Multistrada V2.

The engine produces:

  • 111 hp
  • 91.1 Nm of peak torque
  • 6-speed gearbox

While the power output remains almost unchanged compared to the outgoing model, the new engine delivers its maximum power at 9,000 rpm, making performance more accessible across the rev range. Peak torque arrives at 7,250 rpm, ensuring strong mid-range performance for both city riding and highway touring.

The motorcycle is also expected to feature a bi-directional quickshifter, allowing seamless clutchless upshifts and downshifts.

Another major update is the adoption of variable intake valve timing, while Ducati has moved away from its traditional Desmodromic valve system. This change is expected to reduce maintenance requirements by extending valve service intervals.

Lighter Chassis and Improved Handling

The new Monster V2 benefits from a redesigned chassis that focuses on reducing weight and improving agility.

Key chassis updates include:

  • New lightweight monocoque frame
  • Double-sided swingarm inspired by the latest Panigale V4
  • Revised suspension setup
  • Lower overall weight

Thanks to these revisions, the motorcycle is expected to be around 4 kg lighter than its predecessor, with a kerb weight of approximately 175 kg (without fuel).

The fuel tank capacity continues to be 14 litres, maintaining a balance between practicality and performance.

Sharper Styling

The latest Monster V2 receives a noticeable design refresh while retaining the iconic Monster silhouette.

Exterior highlights include:

  • Muscular sculpted fuel tank
  • Updated LED headlamp with new DRL signature
  • Slimmer rear section
  • Twin round exhaust silencers
  • Compact streetfighter-inspired stance

The revised styling gives the motorcycle a stronger road presence while preserving the compact dimensions that have defined the Monster series for decades.

Features

The Ducati Monster V2 is expected to come equipped with a comprehensive electronics package, including:

  • Full-LED lighting
  • TFT instrument display
  • Ride-by-wire throttle
  • Multiple riding modes
  • Traction control
  • Cornering ABS
  • Wheelie control
  • Engine brake control
  • Bi-directional quickshifter

These features are designed to enhance both rider confidence and overall performance across varying road conditions.

Expected Price

The current Ducati Monster is priced at ₹13.84 lakh (ex-showroom). Given the extensive mechanical and technological upgrades, the new Monster V2 is expected to carry a slightly higher price tag when it launches in India.

Launch Timeline

Ducati will officially launch the Monster V2 in India on August 10, bringing a lighter platform, a new-generation V2 engine, updated styling and advanced electronics. With its combination of performance, modern technology and premium design, the new Monster V2 is expected to strengthen Ducati's presence in India's high-performance naked motorcycle segment
