Hyundai July 2026 Sales Report: Creta Leads as Overall Sales Rise 23%

Hyundai Motor India recorded strong retail sales in July 2026, selling 54,210 vehicles in the domestic market. The company registered a 23.28% year-on-year (YoY) increase compared with the 43,973 units sold during the same month last year.

Sales also witnessed a significant improvement on a month-on-month (MoM) basis. Hyundai’s July retail volume was 36.77% higher than the 39,635 units recorded in June 2026. The sharp monthly recovery was supported by better availability of several key models, along with sustained demand for Hyundai’s SUV and hatchback range.

Hyundai Model-Wise Sales in July 2026

The Creta, including its electric version, remained Hyundai’s best-selling model in July. The mid-size SUV recorded 18,088 units, contributing around 33.37% of Hyundai’s total monthly sales. Creta sales increased 7.04% YoY from 16,898 units in July 2025.

The model also witnessed an exceptional monthly recovery, with sales rising 152.34% compared with June 2026, when Hyundai retailed 7,166 units.

The Venue secured second place in Hyundai’s sales chart with 11,095 units. Sales increased 37.76% YoY from 8,054 units in July 2025. On a MoM basis, Venue sales grew by 2.96% compared with 10,776 units sold in June.

The Exter ranked third with 6,810 units, registering a healthy 34.19% YoY increase over the 5,075 units sold a year earlier. However, its monthly sales declined 16.48% from June.

One of the strongest performers was the i20, which recorded 6,738 units in July. The premium hatchback registered an impressive 98.41% YoY growth, compared with 3,396 units in July 2025. Its MoM performance was even stronger, with sales jumping 268.60% from just 1,828 units in June.

The Aura posted sales of 5,817 units, representing 25.47% YoY growth. However, sales declined slightly by 2.68% compared with June.

The Grand i10 Nios contributed 4,055 units, up 13.90% YoY. Its monthly sales, however, fell 16.65% from the previous month.

Alcazar, Verna and Other Hyundai Models

Hyundai’s three-row Alcazar recorded 862 units in July 2026. While this represented a substantial 183.55% MoM increase from 304 units in June, sales were down 39.25% compared with the 1,419 units sold in July 2025.

The Verna registered 737 units, growing 33.03% over June. However, its YoY sales declined by 10.77%.

Hyundai’s premium electric model, the IONIQ 5, remained a niche product with only 8 units retailed during the month. The Tucson recorded no retail sales in July 2026.

SUVs Remain Hyundai’s Biggest Growth Driver

Hyundai’s sales performance continues to be heavily influenced by its SUV portfolio. The Creta, Venue, Exter and Alcazar together accounted for nearly 68% of Hyundai’s total domestic retail sales in July.

The strong contribution from these models highlights the growing importance of SUVs in Hyundai’s India strategy, particularly as consumer demand continues to shift toward higher-riding and feature-rich vehicles.

Hyundai’s Upcoming SUV and EV Lineup

Hyundai is also preparing for an important product expansion in the coming months. The company is expected to introduce its first locally manufactured electric SUV around October 2026. Positioned in the sub-4-metre category, the upcoming EV is expected to compete with models such as the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV.

The company is also expected to introduce a Bayon-based mid-size SUV, which could compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Victoris. Following this, the next-generation Hyundai Creta is expected to arrive with an updated platform, redesigned styling, a revamped cabin, new technology and revised powertrain options.

With several major SUV launches planned during the financial year, Hyundai is looking to strengthen its presence across multiple segments and maintain its momentum in India’s highly competitive passenger vehicle market.
