Hyundai car has revealed detailed specifications and features of the fifth-generation 2027 Tucson in South Korea. The new SUV gets a larger and more upright design, upgraded cabin technology and new driver-assistance features, including Memory Reverse Assist. The hybrid version combines a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine with Hyundai’s hybrid system to deliver a claimed 245 PS of combined power and 17.4 kmpl fuel efficiency.

The new-generation Tucson is scheduled to go on sale in South Korea in October 2026, with prices expected to be announced closer to its market launch. Hyundai has also confirmed that the new Tucson and Tucson Hybrid are part of its upcoming global product rollout.

2027 Hyundai Tucson: Engine and Hybrid Powertrain

The new Tucson gets a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine in its powertrain lineup. The conventional petrol version produces around 193 PS, while the hybrid version develops 245 PS of combined system power. The petrol model is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The hybrid powertrain also brings improved fuel efficiency, with Hyundai quoting 17.4 kmpl for the Korean-market model. The new hybrid system additionally gets an upgraded regenerative braking setup and features such as Stay Mode.

2027 Hyundai Tucson Key Specifications

The new Tucson is 60 mm longer and 40 mm wider than its predecessor, while the wheelbase has increased by 30 mm. The SUV now measures 4,700 mm in length and 1,905 mm in width, giving it a more substantial road presence.

Memory Reverse Assist Is a Major New Feature

One of the most notable additions is Memory Reverse Assist. The system can remember the steering and vehicle movements used while entering a tight parking space. When required, it can use the stored path along with sensor information to automatically reverse the SUV along the same route.

This feature is particularly useful in narrow parking areas where manually reversing a larger SUV can be difficult.

New Safety and Convenience Technology

The 2027 Tucson also introduces Pedal Misoperation Safety Assist. The system is designed to detect situations where the accelerator may be pressed accidentally instead of the brake, particularly when the vehicle is stationary or moving slowly. It can limit acceleration and apply emergency braking when the system detects such a situation.

Another new feature is Door Unlock Power Redundancy, which provides a backup power source for unlocking the doors if the main electrical system becomes unavailable following a crash or malfunction.

Pleos Connect Infotainment System

The new Tucson receives Hyundai's latest Pleos Connect infotainment system. The setup provides a large central display with information for navigation, multimedia and driving functions. The new software-focused cabin also brings AI-assisted functionality and connected features.

The SUV follows Hyundai's new Art of Steel design philosophy, with a more squared-off exterior, sharper surfaces and updated LED lighting. An XRT variant is also part of the new Tucson lineup, adding a more rugged appearance.

More Cabin Space

The larger dimensions also translate into additional cabin space. Rear-seat knee room has increased by 14 mm, while rear headroom has improved by 29 mm. The boot capacity has increased by 22 litres, and the rear doors now open to 83 degrees compared with 73 degrees on the outgoing model.

2027 Hyundai Tucson India Launch

For Indian buyers, Hyundai has not officially confirmed the India launch of the fifth-generation Tucson yet. The outgoing Tucson was discontinued from the Indian market in 2025, and there is currently no confirmed announcement regarding the new model's India-spec powertrain, variants or launch date.

Therefore, the 245 PS hybrid, 17.4 kmpl mileage and other specifications mentioned above are based on the currently revealed Korean-market model and should not be treated as confirmed India-spec figures
