Mahindra's upcoming Vision S-based SUV has been spotted testing again in India, revealing an important new exterior detail. The latest night-time spy images show a connected-style LED rear light signature, giving the upcoming SUV a wider and more modern appearance.
The new lighting arrangement is different from the vertical rear lamps seen on some earlier Vision S test mules. However, the exact production-spec lighting layout is still not confirmed because the prototype remains camouflaged.
The latest images show slim horizontal red LED elements extending inward from the outer rear lamp assemblies. These elements appear to move towards the centre of the tailgate, creating a connected-tail-light effect.
However, the centrally mounted spare wheel blocks the middle section. Therefore, it is not yet clear whether the two illuminated sections will form one continuous light bar on the production SUV.
Earlier spy images had shown vertically positioned rear lights integrated around the rear pillars. The latest sighting does not necessarily mean those higher lighting elements have been removed, as they could remain part of the final design or serve a different lighting function.

The Vision S-based SUV continues to feature a rugged and upright design. The latest prototype retains the boxy body, upright rear windscreen, pronounced wheel arches and tailgate-mounted spare wheel seen in previous sightings.
Earlier spy shots also revealed a 235/70 R16 tyre, although final wheel and tyre specifications could vary between production variants.
The overall design continues to carry visual cues associated with Mahindra's larger SUVs, while its expected sub-four-metre dimensions should give it a more compact footprint.
The production version of the Vision S is expected to use Mahindra's NU_IQ platform, which has been developed to support different vehicle sizes and powertrain configurations.
Previous prototypes have indicated that Mahindra is testing the SUV with an ICE powertrain, including a diesel version. Earlier reports have also indicated that the production-spec Vision S family could eventually be offered with petrol, diesel and electric powertrain options.
The exact engine specifications, transmission choices and EV specifications for the production model have not yet been officially confirmed.
