Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric Price and Launch Details

Mercedes-Benz has launched the GLC 400 4MATIC Electric in India at an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs 78.50 lakh. The Indian market currently receives the dual-motor all-wheel-drive version of the electric SUV.

Unlike a completely imported model, the new GLC Electric is locally assembled at the company's Chakan plant in Pune, Maharashtra. Local production is an important part of Mercedes-Benz's strategy to expand its electric vehicle range in India.

The electric SUV has also received strong initial customer interest. According to launch-day reports, the company had received more than 1,000 bookings, with the available allocation reportedly sold out until March 2027.

With its combination of luxury, performance and technology, the GLC Electric is positioned for customers looking to move from conventional petrol or diesel luxury SUVs to an all-electric vehicle.

39.1-Inch MBUX Hyperscreen Takes Centre Stage

The biggest interior highlight of the Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric is its massive 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen. The display stretches across a large section of the dashboard, giving the cabin a modern and technology-focused appearance.

The integrated screen combines three main display areas: a digital instrument cluster for the driver, a central infotainment touchscreen and a dedicated display for the front passenger.

This arrangement allows the driver and passenger to access different digital functions. The driver can view important vehicle information, while the central screen provides access to infotainment and connected features. The passenger display adds another layer of entertainment and convenience.

The system uses Mercedes-Benz's fourth-generation MBUX interface, which brings updated graphics, connected functions and an improved user experience. It also includes an AI-powered assistant designed to make interactions more natural.

Despite the extensive touchscreen setup, selected physical controls remain available on the steering wheel and centre console.

Burmester 3D Sound System with Dolby Atmos

Another major feature of the new GLC Electric is its Burmester 3D surround sound system. The premium audio setup includes 15 speakers and delivers a claimed output of 670 watts.

It also supports Dolby Atmos technology, which is designed to provide a more immersive listening experience. The system aims to create a spacious sound environment throughout the cabin, adding depth and clarity to music playback.

Burmester is a premium audio brand associated with high-end automotive sound systems. Its inclusion strengthens the luxury appeal of the GLC Electric, particularly for customers who enjoy music during long journeys.

Panoramic Glass Roof with Illuminated Mercedes-Benz Stars

The electric SUV also features a SKY CONTROL panoramic glass roof. One of its distinctive elements is the illuminated Mercedes-Benz star pattern integrated into the glass roof.

The glass can switch between transparent and opaque settings at the touch of a button, allowing occupants to control the amount of light entering the cabin.

The illuminated star pattern can also match the selected ambient lighting colour. This creates a distinctive visual effect, particularly during night-time journeys.

The panoramic roof adds to the premium cabin experience while making the interior feel more open.

Ventilated and Massaging Front Seats

Mercedes-Benz has focused on passenger comfort by equipping the GLC Electric with powered front seats that offer ventilation and massage functions.

These features can be useful during longer journeys, allowing occupants to adjust their seating position and improve comfort. The cabin also features premium materials, metallic detailing and open-pore wood trim.

The rear seating area is designed to accommodate passengers, although buyers planning frequent five-person journeys should assess the available space and seating comfort in person before making a purchase decision.

Battery, Range and Performance

The Mercedes-Benz GLC 400 4MATIC Electric is powered by a 94kWh battery pack connected to two electric motors. One motor drives each axle, providing an all-wheel-drive configuration.

The combined power output is approximately 360kW, equivalent to 489PS, while maximum torque stands at 800Nm. This gives the electric SUV strong acceleration and performance.

Mercedes-Benz claims that the GLC Electric can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.3 seconds. The company also claims a WLTP driving range of up to 711km on a single charge.

The claimed range makes it a notable option in the premium electric SUV segment. However, actual driving range will depend on factors such as driving style, traffic, road conditions, weather, vehicle load and the use of air conditioning.

330kW DC Fast Charging Technology

Charging convenience is another important highlight of the GLC Electric. The SUV supports DC fast charging at up to 330kW.

Mercedes-Benz claims that the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in approximately 22 minutes under suitable charging conditions. The company also states that a 10-minute charging session can add up to around 300km of driving range.

These figures depend on the charging station's output, battery temperature, starting charge level and other conditions. Therefore, actual charging times may vary.

The SUV also supports the Mercedes-Benz MB.CHARGE Public network, which integrates more than 22,000 charging points across India into a single platform. Owners can use supported services to locate charging stations, check availability and manage charging payments.

Exterior Design and Lighting Features

The Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric receives a distinctive exterior design that separates it from the conventional petrol and diesel-powered GLC models.

At the front, the electric SUV features a large illuminated grille with an illuminated Mercedes-Benz star. The grille incorporates multiple illuminated elements, creating a distinctive appearance, particularly at night.

Other exterior highlights include DIGITAL LIGHT headlamps, three-pointed-star daytime running lights, flush-fitting door handles and sporty AMG design elements.

The Indian-market model also gets 20-inch AMG-style alloy wheels, connected rear lighting with star-shaped LED tail-lamp elements and aluminium running boards.

Overall, the design gives the electric SUV a futuristic appearance while retaining the familiar proportions of the GLC family.

Boot Space and Practicality

The GLC Electric is not focused only on technology and performance. It also offers practical storage options for everyday use and longer journeys.

The SUV provides a claimed rear boot capacity of 570 litres. It additionally gets a 128-litre front storage compartment, commonly known as a frunk.

Together, these compartments offer a claimed combined storage capacity of 698 litres. The front storage area can be useful for smaller bags and charging accessories, while the rear boot can accommodate regular luggage.

Safety and Driver Assistance Features

The Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric comes equipped with the brand's MB.DRIVE Level 2 driver assistance package. Depending on operating conditions and system availability, these technologies can assist with steering, speed management and maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles.

Other equipment highlights include multiple airbags, electronic stability control, parking sensors, parking assistance, surround-view camera functions and a head-up display.

These technologies are designed to improve convenience and driver awareness. However, driver assistance systems do not replace the driver's responsibility to remain attentive and in control of the vehicle.
