MINI cars is preparing to introduce the second-generation Cooper SE electric hatchback in India on November 27, 2026. The upcoming launch is expected to bring updated styling, modern technology and an improved electric powertrain. MINI is also expected to introduce the special Paul Smith Edition alongside the new electric Cooper.

The new model will strengthen MINI’s electric vehicle portfolio in India and give buyers another premium electric hatchback option. While the international model’s key specifications are already known, India-specific pricing, certified driving range and final variant details are yet to be officially announced.

Exterior Design: Classic MINI Shape with Modern Details

The second-generation Cooper SE retains the familiar compact proportions and three-door hatchback cars silhouette that have become central to MINI’s identity. However, the latest model receives several design updates to give it a cleaner and more contemporary appearance.

At the front, it features the brand’s signature round LED headlamps with selectable light signatures. The front grille has an updated octagonal design, while the rear gets flush-fitting tail lamps. The overall styling remains instantly recognisable as a MINI, but the detailing is more minimalist.

The electric hatchback also gets distinctive alloy wheel designs and exterior colour options in international markets. India-specific colour and equipment choices will be confirmed closer to the launch.

Battery, Range and Performance

The biggest update is the larger battery pack. The global-specification MINI Cooper SE uses a 54.2kWh battery, paired with a front-mounted electric motor.

The motor produces around 218PS (215bhp) and 330Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels, and the car can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in a claimed 6.7 seconds.

MINI claims a driving range of up to 402km on the European WLTP test cycle. This is an international specification, not an India-certified range figure. The official Indian range may differ depending on the version and the certification cycle used.

Charging: Up to 95kW DC Fast Charging

The new Cooper SE supports DC fast charging at up to 95kW. According to the international specifications, a compatible fast charger can take the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in approximately 30 minutes.

This should make the car more convenient for occasional longer journeys, although actual charging times can vary depending on battery temperature, charger capacity and charging conditions.

For everyday use, owners will also be able to charge the car using compatible AC charging equipment. The final India-specific charging equipment and charging specifications are yet to be announced.

Interior and Features: Circular OLED Display

The cabin receives a major redesign, with technology and minimalist styling taking centre stage. One of the main highlights is the large circular OLED display positioned in the middle of the dashboard. It handles infotainment and several vehicle functions, giving the dashboard a distinctive appearance.

The interior also features textile-finished surfaces and a cleaner dashboard layout. Other equipment available on the global model includes:

  • Circular OLED central display

  • MINI voice assistant

  • Smartphone-based digital key

  • Parking assistant

  • Multiple ultrasonic sensors and cameras

  • Updated connected-car and infotainment functions

The exact feature list for India will be revealed closer to the launch. Equipment can vary across international versions and Indian variants.

MINI Paul Smith Edition Also Coming to India

Alongside the new Cooper SE, MINI has confirmed the launch of the Paul Smith Edition in India on November 27, 2026.

This special edition has been developed around the design language of British fashion designer Paul Smith. It features exclusive styling details, distinctive colour combinations and personalised interior elements.

Depending on the global version, highlights include Nottingham Green exterior accents, special alloy wheels, signature stripes on the steering wheel, unique cabin finishes and a special door-opening light projection.

The Paul Smith Edition is offered internationally across different MINI body styles. However, MINI India has not yet confirmed which body style or powertrain configuration will be available in the country.

Expected Price and Rivals in India

MINI has not announced the official price of the new Cooper SE for India. The previous-generation electric Cooper SE was positioned as a premium imported hatchback, and the new model is also expected to target buyers looking for a distinctive luxury electric car.

The final price will depend on the India-spec configuration, equipment and import details. Buyers should wait for the official announcement rather than rely on unconfirmed price estimates.

The Cooper SE will occupy a relatively niche position in the Indian EV market. Its compact dimensions, premium branding and distinctive styling are likely to appeal to urban buyers who want an electric car with a character different from conventional electric SUVs.

What to Expect at the November 27 Launch

The November 27 event should provide clarity on the India-spec Cooper SE, including its price, variants, equipment, certified driving range and delivery details. MINI is also expected to share more information about the Paul Smith Edition.

With a larger battery, updated cabin and improved charging capability in its global specification, the second-generation Cooper SE represents a significant update over the earlier model. Its success in India will depend on the final price and how its official range and features compare with other premium EV options.

For now, the confirmed launch date makes the new MINI Cooper SE one of the notable upcoming premium electric car launches in India this November.
