Tata Motors has confirmed that the upcoming Sierra EV will feature a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, branded as Quad Wheel Drive (QWD). The confirmation comes through a new teaser released ahead of the SUV’s official debut on June 30.
The teaser showcases the TATA Sierra EV driving across desert terrain, highlighting its off-road capabilities. A visible "QWD Dual Motor" badge on the rear confirms that the electric SUV will be offered with a dual-motor configuration, making it one of the few Tata EVs to feature all-wheel drive.

The QWD system is expected to enhance traction, stability, and performance by distributing power to all four wheels. This setup should prove especially useful on challenging surfaces such as sand, gravel, and wet roads.
While Tata has not revealed complete specifications, the Sierra EV is expected to share its Acti.ev platform and several components with the Harrier EV. The SUV could be offered with multiple battery options and both single-motor and dual-motor variants.
The production-spec Sierra EV retains the iconic styling cues of the original Sierra while incorporating modern EV design elements, including connected LED lighting and a futuristic front fascia.
With the addition of a dual-motor QWD system, Tata is positioning the Sierra EV as a premium electric SUV that blends heritage-inspired design with advanced technology and enhanced driving capability.
