BYD is preparing to bring its premium Denza brand to India, with the high-performance Z9 GT expected to be one of the first models to arrive in the country. The electric shooting brake is expected to make its India debut by the end of 2026.
Denza will be positioned above BYD's existing India portfolio, targeting the premium and luxury vehicle market. The Z9 GT is expected to arrive as a completely built-up unit (CBU), which means it will be imported rather than locally manufactured initially.

The Z9 GT is expected to be offered in India with its most powerful electric configuration. It uses three electric motors, including one motor at the front and two motors at the rear.
The combined output stands at 850kW, equivalent to around 1,156hp, while maximum system torque is rated at 1,210Nm. This makes the Z9 GT one of the most powerful electric passenger cars expected to enter the Indian market.
The performance figures are equally impressive. The Z9 GT can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds, while its top speed is rated at 270 km/h.
The high-performance electric version uses a 122.49kWh BYD Blade Battery with Cell-to-Body (CTB) technology.
The global specification offers a WLTP electric range of around 600km. The Z9 GT also supports BYD's Flash Charging technology, designed to significantly reduce charging time.
Earlier updated versions of the Z9 GT have also been reported with a much higher CLTC range of up to 1,036km, depending on the battery and configuration. However, the WLTP figure is a more conservative internationally comparable figure and is the one listed for the European specification.
Unlike conventional SUVs and sedans, the Z9 GT follows a shooting-brake body style. It combines a long, low-slung profile with a large rear cargo area and five-door practicality.
The model measures around 5.18 metres in length, 1.99 metres in width and 1.49 metres in height, with a 3,125mm wheelbase. The long wheelbase is expected to provide a spacious cabin while maintaining its sporty proportions.
The Z9 GT features a technology-focused cabin with multiple screens and premium equipment. The model also offers advanced driver assistance technology and a roof-mounted LiDAR system on updated versions.
The car uses BYD's advanced electronic architecture and is equipped with a sophisticated suspension setup. International specifications include a DiSus-A dual-chamber air suspension system and rear-wheel steering, helping improve ride comfort and manoeuvrability.
The Denza Z9 GT is expected to sit firmly in the luxury EV segment in India. Reports suggest an expected price of around ₹1.2 crore to ₹1.5 crore, ex-showroom.
The final price will depend on the specification selected for India, import duties, equipment and positioning of the Denza brand.
The arrival of the Z9 GT will mark an important step for BYD's premium expansion in India. Denza is expected to operate above the existing BYD range, while the Z9 GT will target buyers looking for extreme performance, luxury and advanced EV technology.
