BYD Sealion 7 Gets New Entry-Level Dynamic Variant at ₹41.90 Lakh

BYD has expanded the Sealion 7 range in India with a new, more affordable Dynamic variant, reducing the entry price of its electric SUV by ₹8 lakh. The new variant is priced at ₹41.90 lakh (ex-showroom), compared with ₹49.90 lakh for the previously available Premium variant.

The new Dynamic trim is aimed at making the Sealion 7 more accessible to buyers considering premium electric SUVs such as the BMW iX1 LWB, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6 and Volvo EX40.

BYD Sealion 7 Dynamic: Price and Powertrain

The new Sealion 7 Dynamic becomes the entry point of BYD's flagship electric SUV range in India. Its ₹41.90 lakh price tag represents a ₹8 lakh reduction compared with the earlier base Premium variant.

The biggest change comes under the skin. Unlike the Premium and Performance versions, which use an 82.56 kWh battery, the Dynamic gets a smaller 71.8 kWh battery pack.

The battery powers a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 231 bhp. BYD claims a range of up to 520 km, while the SUV can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.3 seconds.

The Premium continues with a single-motor rear-wheel-drive setup, producing 313 bhp and offering the highest claimed range of the three variants at 567 km. Meanwhile, the range-topping Performance version uses dual motors and develops up to 530 bhp, enabling a 0-100 km/h time of just 4.5 seconds.

What Changes on the Dynamic Variant?

From the outside, the Sealion 7 Dynamic retains the overall styling of the higher variants. However, it gets 19-inch alloy wheels, which are smaller than those offered on the more expensive versions.

There are also changes to the braking hardware. The Dynamic variant does not get the drilled brake discs available on higher trims and instead uses floating-type calipers.

Charging Capability Reduced

The smaller battery isn't the only reason for the lower price. BYD has also reduced the charging capability of the Dynamic variant.

This means the Dynamic takes a more cost-conscious approach to both battery capacity and charging performance.

Features Removed From the Base Variant

BYD has removed several premium features from the Dynamic trim to achieve its lower price point. These include:

• Head-up display
• Hands-free powered tailgate
• Auto-tilting ORVMs
• ORVM memory function
• Leather-wrapped steering wheel
• Leather seats
• Driver's seat memory
• Powered lumbar support
• Powered leg rest
• 12-speaker audio system
• PM2.5 air filter
• Mood lighting

The audio system also drops from 12 speakers to 10 speakers.

Strong Feature List Still Available

Despite the equipment cuts, the Sealion 7 Dynamic retains a substantial list of features.

This makes the new Dynamic trim considerably better equipped than a typical entry-level luxury EV, despite its lower positioning within the Sealion 7 range.

BYD Makes the Sealion 7 More Accessible

With the introduction of the Dynamic variant, BYD has significantly lowered the entry barrier for the Sealion 7 in India. The ₹41.90 lakh starting price puts the electric SUV into a more competitive position against other premium EVs.

The new variant sacrifices some battery capacity, performance, charging speed and luxury features compared with the higher trims, but retains the core electric powertrain, long-range capability and a strong technology package.

For buyers prioritising price, range and essential premium features over outright performance and equipment, the new Sealion 7 Dynamic could become the most appealing version in the lineup.
