Mercedes-Benz is preparing to expand its electric vehicle portfolio in India with the GLC Electric, which is now confirmed to launch in the country on November 4, 2026. The luxury electric SUV will be locally assembled at Mercedes-Benz's Chakan facility in Pune, while bookings are scheduled to begin in the first week of October.
The India-spec model will initially arrive in the GLC 400 4MATIC configuration, featuring a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, a 94kWh battery and a claimed WLTP range of up to 715km.
The GLC Electric will become an important addition to Mercedes-Benz India's EV range. The company says the model will reach India only around six months after sales began in Europe, making it one of the fastest global Mercedes-Benz models to arrive in India as a locally assembled vehicle.

The GLC 400 4MATIC Electric uses a 94kWh NMC battery pack paired with two electric motors. The combined output is reported at around 489bhp and 800Nm, giving the SUV all-wheel-drive capability.
Mercedes-Benz claims a 0-100kmph time of 4.3 seconds, which gives the electric SUV performance more commonly associated with larger luxury performance vehicles.
The claimed WLTP range is up to 715km, although actual driving range will vary depending on speed, temperature, road conditions, driving style and use of climate-control systems.
The GLC Electric is based on an 800-volt electrical architecture and supports DC fast charging at up to 330kW. Mercedes-Benz claims that under suitable charging conditions, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in around 22 minutes.
The company also claims that approximately 300km of WLTP range can be added in around 10 minutes using a suitably powerful DC charger.
This charging capability could be particularly relevant for owners who regularly undertake long-distance journeys.
The electric GLC has a longer wheelbase than the combustion-powered GLC. Reports based on the India-bound model list a wheelbase of 2,972mm, while the SUV measures roughly 4.85 metres in length and 1.91 metres in width.
The longer wheelbase also helps create additional cabin space. Mercedes-Benz claims increased rear legroom compared with the conventional GLC.
Boot capacity is reported at around 570 litres, with substantially more room available when the rear seats are folded. A separate front luggage compartment also adds practicality.
One of the biggest talking points inside the GLC Electric is its 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen.
The wide display combines the driver's digital instrument cluster, central infotainment screen and passenger display into a single dashboard-width arrangement. The system uses Mercedes-Benz's latest software architecture and includes AI-assisted functions.
The cabin is configured as a five-seater and is expected to feature premium equipment such as a panoramic glass roof, advanced connectivity, multi-zone climate control, wireless charging and premium audio equipment, depending on the India specification.

The electric GLC retains the familiar SUV proportions of the GLC family but gets a dedicated electric design treatment.
The front features an illuminated grille treatment, Mercedes-Benz's three-pointed-star lighting elements and slim LED lighting. The side profile gets flush-fitting door handles and large alloy wheels, while the rear features distinctive star-shaped lighting elements connected visually across the tailgate.
The design therefore maintains a connection with the existing GLC while giving the electric version a more futuristic identity.
Mercedes-Benz has not yet announced the official India price.
Current industry estimates place the GLC Electric in the region of ₹80 lakh to ₹90 lakh ex-showroom, but the final figure will only be known at launch.
Local assembly at Pune could play an important role in positioning the SUV competitively within Mercedes-Benz India's electric vehicle range.
