Harley-Davidson bikes has officially unveiled its new Sprint 440 motorcycle, expanding its entry-level premium motorcycle portfolio with a traditional cruiser. Developed under the partnership between Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp, the Sprint 440 brings classic American cruiser styling, a low seat height and a familiar 440cc engine platform.
The new motorcycle is an important product for both companies as they look to strengthen their presence in international markets. The Sprint 440 will make its public debut at EICMA 2026 in Milan, while its international market rollout is scheduled to begin in 2027.
Although the motorcycle has strong Indian connections through Hero MotoCorp, an official India launch date and India-specific pricing have not yet been announced.
The biggest highlight of the new Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 is its traditional cruiser styling. Unlike the roadster-inspired X440, the Sprint 440 gets a longer and lower stance, giving it a more conventional Harley-Davidson appearance.
At the front, the motorcycle features a round headlamp, pulled-back handlebar and a classic fuel tank design. The teardrop-shaped fuel tank flows towards a scooped rider seat with a slightly raised pillion section.
Other styling highlights include a short rear fender, low-mounted exhaust, machined alloy wheels and black-finished mechanical components. The overall design takes inspiration from larger Harley-Davidson cruisers while maintaining relatively compact dimensions.
The motorcycle will be available in international markets in three colour options: Dark Billiard Grey, Vivid Black and Teal Thunder.
The Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 uses a 440cc, single-cylinder, air- and oil-cooled engine. This powertrain produces approximately 26.7 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 38 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm.
The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox and an assist-and-slipper clutch.
The power delivery focuses on accessible low-end and mid-range torque, which should suit the motorcycle's relaxed cruiser character. Harley-Davidson has also indicated a claimed combined fuel efficiency of approximately 34 kmpl under the specified test conditions.
The engine is closely related to the unit used in the Harley-Davidson X440 and X440 T. However, the Sprint 440's cruiser-oriented design and gearing may offer a different riding experience.
Another important highlight of the Sprint 440 is its accessible seat height. The motorcycle gets a claimed laden seat height of just 671 mm, making it particularly interesting for riders who prefer a lower seating position.
Its narrow seat, low stance and pulled-back handlebar are designed to provide a relaxed riding posture.
The motorcycle also features forward-set footpegs, allowing riders to maintain a more comfortable cruiser-style position during longer journeys.
Harley-Davidson will also offer optional Reach and Tallboy seats, allowing customers to customise the seating arrangement according to their preferences.
The Sprint 440 gets a 43mm upside-down front fork with 130mm of suspension travel. At the rear, it features twin shock absorbers with seven-step preload adjustment.
The motorcycle rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear cast aluminium wheels. These are wrapped in 100/90 front and 150/60 rear tyres.
Braking duties are handled by a 320mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc, supported by an anti-lock braking system (ABS).
The motorcycle has a claimed ground clearance of 147mm and a running-order weight of approximately 189kg.
Despite its retro-inspired styling, the Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 comes with modern equipment.
Key features include:
3.5-inch circular colour TFT instrument display
Full LED lighting
USB Type-C charging port
ABS braking system
Assist-and-slipper clutch
Upswept handlebar
Dual rear shock absorbers
Alloy wheels
Harley-Davidson will also offer optional touring accessories, including a detachable windscreen, saddlebags, passenger backrest and engine guard.
These accessories will allow customers to customise the motorcycle for daily commuting and weekend touring.
The Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 has been announced with a starting price of £4,995 in the UK.
In the United States, the motorcycle is expected to arrive in spring 2027, with final assembly taking place at Harley-Davidson's York, Pennsylvania facility.
The company is preparing different market introduction schedules for other international markets.
The Sprint 440 is particularly relevant to India because of the partnership between Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp.
Hero MotoCorp has played an important role in developing the 440cc platform and manufacturing motorcycles associated with Harley-Davidson's more accessible portfolio.
However, despite the motorcycle's Indian development connections, the company has not confirmed its India launch date or local pricing.
The Sprint 440 could become an interesting addition to the Indian premium motorcycle segment if introduced locally. Its traditional cruiser styling, low seat height and 440cc engine could attract riders looking for an alternative to conventional roadsters.
India-specific specifications, equipment and pricing will be important factors in determining its positioning in the domestic market.
The new Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 brings together traditional cruiser styling, a 440cc engine and modern equipment in a relatively accessible motorcycle package.
Its low seat height, relaxed riding ergonomics and classic design distinguish it from the existing X440 lineup.
While international deliveries are planned for 2027, Indian motorcycle enthusiasts will have to wait for an official announcement regarding its domestic launch and pricing.
