August 2026 Mahindra SUV Sales: Scorpio, Thar, XUV 3XO & XUV 7XO Compared

Mahindra continued its strong run in India's SUV market in August 2026, with its popular models recording significant volumes despite a month-on-month decline from July. The Scorpio-N remained the best-selling Mahindra SUV, followed by the Thar, XUV 3XO and XUV 7XO.

Mahindra's domestic utility vehicle sales stood at 59,257 units in August 2026, compared with 39,399 units in August 2025, registering a 50.4% year-on-year growth. The company also reported strong overall automotive sales during the month.

Scorpio-N Leads Mahindra's SUV Line-up

The Mahindra Scorpio-N emerged as the company's strongest-selling SUV among the four models compared here, recording 9,840 units in August 2026.

However, sales declined from 16,009 units in July, resulting in a month-on-month fall of around 38.5%. Despite this decline, Scorpio-N maintained a clear lead over the Thar, XUV 3XO and XUV 7XO.

The Scorpio continues to benefit from its rugged SUV design, spacious cabin, strong road presence and availability with petrol and diesel powertrains. The Scorpio nameplate also enjoys strong brand recognition in the Indian market.

Mahindra Thar Holds Second Position

The Mahindra Thar registered 6,997 units in August 2026, placing it second among the four SUVs in this comparison.

The model sold 10,558 units in July, meaning August sales were lower by around 33.7% month on month.

The Thar continues to appeal to buyers looking for an SUV with a distinctive design and strong off-road character. Its wider range of variants and the addition of more practical versions have helped Mahindra expand the Thar's appeal beyond traditional off-road enthusiasts.

XUV 3XO Records Over 5,500 Units

The Mahindra XUV 3XO recorded 5,521 units in August 2026, making it the third-best seller among these four Mahindra SUVs.

In July, the XUV 3XO registered 9,429 units. August sales therefore declined by around 41.4% month on month.

The XUV 3XO occupies the compact SUV space and competes with models from several major manufacturers. Its combination of compact dimensions, premium features, multiple powertrain options and competitive positioning makes it an important volume contributor for Mahindra.

The model has also crossed the major 4 lakh sales milestone when combined with its predecessor, the XUV300.

XUV 7XO Completes the Top Four

The Mahindra XUV 7XO recorded 4,956 units in August 2026, placing fourth among the four SUVs in this comparison.

The SUV had registered 8,233 units in July, resulting in a month-on-month decline of approximately 39.8%.

The XUV 7XO is the updated successor to the XUV700 and brings a refreshed exterior, updated cabin technology and upgraded equipment while retaining the SUV's core petrol and diesel powertrains.

Mahindra's current website lists the XUV 7XO alongside models such as the Scorpio-N and XUV 3XO in its SUV portfolio.

The sales comparison shows that the Scorpio-N was the clear leader in August 2026 among these four models.

The Thar followed in second place, while the XUV 3XO and XUV 7XO recorded more than 5,000 and 4,900 units respectively.

The Scorpio-N was the best-performing model among the Scorpio, Thar, XUV 3XO and XUV 7XO in August 2026. The Thar followed in second place, while the XUV 3XO and XUV 7XO completed the comparison.

Although all four models saw month-on-month declines in August, Mahindra's overall SUV business remained strong on a year-on-year basis. With the festive season approaching, these models are expected to remain important volume drivers for the brand in the coming months.
